Hey Rainforest where Ya' been?? Glad to see you are still around.

Have you spotted MS MOLY or any other OB's in the PDX area?? I happened upon one a couple weeks ago, but it was not OB/B, actually it was OB/OB. A very nice combination if I do say so myself!!

Dr. Horrible and I have been working hard! He's up to 2000 miles now and I'm loving every minute of it!!! I still check NAM about once a week, I just haven't really been into posting I make sure to check the OB thread though, I love it when we post pictures!!! I've got a good one I should upload... DR Horrible covered in DIRT! Lol.

I haven't spotted Ms Molly! I did see one OB/W car about a month ago, and two weekends ago I saw B Bell (washington plates) on i-5 (which I think was an electric blue mini?) when I was on a mini road trip.

My best friend and I purposfully drove up next to B Bell to wave at her, but her and her kid looked preoccupied. Bummer. I've been getting a LOT of return waves from other Mini's though. Smiles abound!!!!

Dr. Horrible is a fantastic name. You should label one of your toggle switches "Freeze Ray."

Hi Elf! Glad to hear you're enjoying Dr. Horrible (how could you not?)! Things here mostly good--no complaints on tedscar and some great drives recently.

Unfortunately, we had to say goodbye to Ted three weeks ago and that's been rough. She was such a great little dog and really loved the OB MINI! In her honor, I outfitted it with the checkerboard dash (matches Ted's love of zooming around AND it nicely shows off her colors). Since you like pics, here's one of the new look. Very sad that Ted didn't get to model it herself, but it does bring a smile to my face when I see it 'cuz it reminds me of her.

I'm still terribly sorry that Ted has moved on. I almost cried when I read that post... but that's such a sweet thing to do. Gets me all teary-eyed all over again. I'm sure Ted would be thrilled.

But it's sad -- I haven't really been driving much since I'm still new to manual transmission... but I did drive my baby to Wal-Mart and back today! Woo! My first time driving him somewhere that wasn't residential. Can't wait to take him on some highways and stuff. Just need a little more practice at low speeds before I make that jump!

Thanks AC. It is very different without Ted here (there, and everywhere); we're doing our best to get used to it. She has come to visit me in several dreams--in all she's been healthy and much more like her younger self. As strange as this sounds, it's nice to see her that way!

As for getting the MINI on the highway, I can only imagine that you have some great back roads there in Kentucky. Once you feel comfortable in the MINI and get the chance to do some exploring, you're going to fall in love with your MINI all over again. I find interstates the boring roads of last resort now. Ted always suggests the back roads...they'll put a smile on your face!

Tedswoods,

Terribly sorry to hear about your sweet Ted. I love how you made the checkerboard dash addition to your car in his honor! My sweet boy is 13 and he is too old to go in the car anymore...it's just too hard on his big old hips to get in there! But I appreciate what a big part of our lives they become and my heart goes out to you!

Reenie

Linus has his first boo-boo. I was minding my own business. Sitting at a red light... and some sweet, 17 year old, who was talking on her cell phone rear ended me and knocked me into the intersection. Luckily there were no other cars coming through the intersection at the time or Linus and I would have sustained bigger injuries. I am a bit bummed. Poor Linus is only 7 months old but at least no one was really hurt...
I will call Classic tomorrow and hopefully they can sort it out for me.

it's here!

Got a call from my MA that my OxB MC is at the dealership! Wow, that was quick!

I pick 'er up on Monday, since they need to do some of the custom detailing-- the sport stripes, side scuttle, and so forth. I'm so nervous to finally see it in person...

(btw, how much do most dealerships charge to install the chrome gas cap? It seemed surprisingly expensive at my dealership...)

Installing the chrome gas cap requires painting.

Ohh, I am sorry to hear about Ted. Losing such a good, close friend leaves such a void.
You have my deepest sympathy.

I only have about 3,200 miles on my OB in almost 6 months. I don't drive nearly enough!
But I have the day off tomorrow and no plans, so I think I shall take Baxter out for a nice drive in the afternoon.
Last time I took him he threw up in the back before we'd even gone 1/4 mile up the street. He'd been eating sticks again. Big doof!

minimo and wannb--thanks for your sympathy. It is a huge void in our lives, no doubt. But we have many fond memories of Ted and they are starting to take some of the sting out of losing her. wannab--thanks for the humorous image of Baxter. I actually ordered the leatherette seats in large part because we had a similar event with Ted last spring--I thought better safe than sorry. Hope Baxter does better this time out.

minimo, I am SO sorry about Linus. Having already had a similar 'issue' (tedscar rolled very slowly into a nearby trailer home), I know how much it hurts to have your MINI even ever-so-slightly injured. As you say, there are the upsides, but still--it's awful for the caretaker to go through. Hope Classic fixes you right up!

minitimes--Right on! Congratulations on that spankin' new MINI! I hope your delivery wasn't TOO quick; it takes all the enjoyment / agony out of waiting, but delivery is delivery. Have a blast and post those pics!

OMG! I thought of Tedswoods rolling accident today!
I was shopping in BJs when I hear over the PA, "Will the owner of a blue and white MINI Cooper, license plate #(mine) please return to your car immediately!" Of course I was in the farthest back corner of the store and it felt like it took me forever to get out the door, round the corner to see her.
There she was, rolled out of my nice end spot parking space into the aisle of the parking lot. There were several store clerks standing around her. They said a customer had told them she almost hit Lucy.
So, I lucked out this time.
What's weird is that I got out of the car, then realized I'd forgotten my list and went back to grab it. I did not have her in gear, apparently.
And I generally don't set the brake unless I am on a real hill. This, fortunately was barely sloping.

I am sooo lucky!

Oh, and I bought a Pooch-Style liner when I got the car, so Baxter's barf was well contained and my lovely interior protected!

HOLY COW Wannab!! That was close!! Even though Molly is an Auto I almost always set the Parking Brake out of habit. Might be a good Exit Car Routine to pick up!!

Ack! That made my stomach go into knots, yeesh! Bet you'll never leave the car without double checking it's in park!!!

So I gave Dr. Horrible a nice wash and wax today, took me like an hour and a half. Towel dried him, the works....

Now it's a brilliant oregon summer rainstorm outside, hahahaa. Luckily I got him inside the garage before it really started pouring. But seriously, ain't that the luck?

The washing predicament happens to me every time I try to wash my car, whether it be the Jeep or the MINI. It's kind of pointless to try when you don't have a garage and live in Kentucky. I'm gonna go out and clean the bugs off of my MINI later on today anyways, even though we're expecting bad weather... at least from what I remember we are...

AgentC have you heard about "Spray on Car Wash"?? Griot's Garage sells it, I use it during Winter Months when it is to cold to get the hose out and give Molly a proper bath. It does a Fabulous job and afterwards a wax and polish will keep your Baby looking good longer!! Works Great on Wheels too, then after washing use Wheel Armour sold @ Detailer's Paradise.

Check out www.griotsgarage.com and www.detailersparadise.com for more info.

Oh, very cool! Thanks for the info.

Edit: So I just got back from driving my baby! I took him out on some main roads and the main highway over here and didn't stall him on them! Only in the neighborhoods at low speeds, hahah! I'm really nervous about taking left turns on busy roads, but otherwise I'm starting to feel really confident about driving him. Took him into 5th gear for the first time (for me, not his first time being in it) too. I feel so accomplished, hahaha! Played with reverse a bit and did relatively well... yeah. I'm excited.
It was also raining for half the trip, so that was interesting. The windshield wipers really confuse me. Everything else about it was just fine.

Ahh..go ahead AC--doublepost!
Hey, good for you on the driving confidence! The MINI is a kick in the pants (as in a fun way) and the more confident you feel in it, the more fun you'll have. But of course I understand where you're coming from. Take your time and enjoy the ride!

As for the wash, RJ will give you the run-down! I guess we've all got our challenges-whether it's OR sunshowers, KY bugs, or NY mud. I can't even leave my driveway once the weather is warm for awhile without coating tedscar in dust (driveway doubles as a gas well 'road' so paving it is out). Someday I know I'll be a little less...particular...about the MINI, but it hasn't happened yet. I do however, have to accept reality about where I live.

wannab--OMG, I am really glad you didn't have a serious situation there! But I hear ya--those MINIs roll off what looks darn-near like flat ground. That's EXACTLY what mine did! It had been sitting for close to half an hour before it rolled. I never used to be an e-brake user. Now tedscar is parked in the garage on what looks to be flat concrete, but you can bet your bippy the brake is set.

Good to know Baxter is travelin' in style! Pictures??

So it has happened the day I wish would never happen since I got my little girl. Someone hit her while I was working all day. Luckily when I came back to my car someone was nice enough to write down the lic number of the car that hit me. I hope to get her fixed and back to her little self again!!

Uggghhh...Geez Dory...that SUCKS!!

So the note that was left was it from the actual person who hit you or the person who witnessed your car getting hit by another car?? Let us know what your Insurance Co. says about repairs. If you find this Scumbag you've got the Gang of O2B's behind you, WE'LL KICK BUTT AND ASK QUESTIONS LATER!!

So sorry about that Dory--sorry it happened and sorry the loser who did it didn't even attempt to make it right with you. Fortunately, you have a witness (at least of sorts) who can steer the cops to the culprit.

As one who had to go through similar trauma, I feel confident your body shop will do a good job--just stay on 'em and let them know you're picky.

Good luck with it--let us know how things turn out!

I know my Jeep was nailed in a parking lot once -- I was in the car resting when it happened! There was no damage to either car so I only held a grudge against the woman who hit it. She flung into the parking spot next to me and hit the corner of my bumper. I was furious mostly due to how she acted about it -- as if it didn't happen and she didn't care. She was in too much of a rush to. Not even so much as a 'sorry'.

But that really, really stinks, Dory. Please do let us know how it turns out for you!
