Steering Wheel Options

After logging many hours on the MINI configurator (), I've noticed a change to the website sometime last week. Under cruise/steering, they changed the STD steering wheel from a two spoke to a three spoke set up. Basically the MFSW without the multifunctions.

To make sure I wasn't hallucinating heres a scanned image from the MINI brochure of the two spoke design the site was using up until a little while ago.

So is this a case of them just updating to the correct pics or did they change the STD steering wheel? I guess the latter wouldn't be surprising considering the contrast shown on the leatherette seats and the outdated pics of the display on the speedo.

The thing is... I specifically saw the two spoke design on a R56 during one of my visit to my local dealer. I asked my GF to confirm, but she said she "doesn't remember".

Can anyone help clarify for me?

I noticed the change too. When I ordered my car this weekend, I was told the standard wheel had been updated but I didn't see any cars on the lot with the new design just yet.

I did see a picture of a mini here on the site with the new wheel, exactly like the 3-spoke upgrade only without the radio/cruise.
My question is if you don't get the upgrade is there no cruise control on the car?

Well thats great news for those of use who do not need or want cruise control but prefer the 3-spoke design. Thats $550 that can go somewhere else.

I've been confused about this too. The $550 is a little more tolerable if you consider that it also includes cruise.

For trade - 2 spoke wheel for 3 spoker

I've got one of the rare R56 2 spoke wheels and we really want a 3 spoke. Who wants this limited edition 2 spoker for their car? PM me.

BTW, Karl...how long did you hold that engine up in the air before you dropped it?

I know another guy here switching out their two-spoke R56 steering wheel (we had several at the local dealer) for a three-spoke MFSW! I myself would prefer a two-spoke so Karl may be onto something, especially if the two-spoke is discontinued.

(sadly for me...I'm planning for an english oak wheel)
