Gee... I think if I were driving my new car for the first time the last thing I'd be thinking about was what song. I'd have the windows down, no music, and bond with the car!

 

Now-what road to take-that would be my kind of question...

 

Yeah. I didn't listen to anything for awhile, but then I got out on the interstate and decided to put a CD in.

 

I haven't decided yet. Probably Mobile, by The Who. But, I might just put on the radio. If I do, I hope that obnoxious Jerry's commercial isn't on...

I cant wait to upgrade the system, it needs some help!

 

I don't intend to use the sound system for the first bit of driving either - have to listen to that engine (and to hear any rattles or sounds that shouldn't be there!) But there is a certain amount of luck and karma that I associate with the first song. It can really set a good tone for the car and the stereo. It also needs to be a good test of the stereo.

I also have about a four hour drive home from the dealer - luckily there are lots of twisties (my hometown's motto is "Take the Backroads"). I'll need a very long playlist on the iPod.

 

I think this thread inspired me to make a first drive mix cd. will list the contents soon.

Not all driving songs, just feel-good, upbeat, fun to sing along with the sunroof open and the windows down, taking in the sure-to-be mid-80s and sunny weather that is just another day here in central Florida.

There is a yellow MINI in the Owner's Lounge gallery with some great Yellow Submarine decals on it. Best MINI graphics I've seen so far.

i made a mix cd with my favorite british bands on it to make my mini feel at home in this foreign country! specials, billy idol, squeeze, joe jackson... old classics! (no beatles, can't stand 'em, sorry!)

 

That is one awesome collection of songs if I do say so myself. Every one a winner. Looks like I'll have to get something together for my list within the next week or two.

 

The first song for my GP was Simple Twist Of Fate, Grateful Dead.

I listened to the motor for the first few hundred. Then I think the first CD was Hard Day's Night, which leads off with, of course, Hard Day's Night. But if you like some fun guitar music to drive to, no words, then there is nothing like Savvy Show Stoppers from the Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet. Look that one up.
