R56 R56 personalized plates
R56 personalized plates
Of course this is not just R56 specific but I thought it would be fun to see what personalized plates everyone has come up with. I ordered my plate back in mid-January and was told it would take up to 90 days to get it. Georgia is so slow, at this point Im hoping it will be here before MOTD
Anyway, I got: ONRA1LS Unfortunately ONRAILS was already taken. So, post your personalized plate here!

Well, I got MCS-R56 (which my wife thinks is obscure), as my current sig shows. Since my MINI hasn't arrived yet, I got the plates for my 9-year old Audi, totally confusing. I'll transfer them when the little one arrives.
I am a HUGE Disney/Disneyland nut, so it was only appropriate that my car become the "Minnie" mobile, not to mention that it will be in the colors of my two favorite mice
My license plate reads MNI(Heart)MKY. I would imagine that all states have the license plates with the icons on them, but if not, my plate with actually have a heart on it.
It's a good thing I don't have the plate yet, because I don't have a car to put it on

I ordered mine just a couple weeks ago (shown in sig) trbo rt for Turbo Kart. I am hoping to get my plates faster than the last set I ordered. I mean how long does it take for a person to stamp the aluminum sheet?
I wanted to do s krt go for S Kart Go but my wife didnt like the escargot similarity I pointed out.

The current ones are as follows;
You cannot put an age related plate on a car that makes it appear newer than it is.
Some older plates or old regional numbers that are non age related are available e.g. 121 ABC but these tend to be expensive.
Normal plates are 2 letters, 2 numbers then 3 letters.
The 1st letter relates to a geographic area *e.g. M for Merseyside), the next letter is just to add variation, the 2 numbers relate to the half of the year the car was produced 0 for the 1st half of the year and 5 for the 2nd half, the second number relates to the production year, 6 for 2006 so a 56 was made in the 2nd half of 2006.
The remaining 3 letters are random.
For the paltry sum of £499 you can select a number if it is available from the licensing authority (covers all of UK) or from an individual of company who owns the number. I asked for and got MR56MCS a bargain at the price.
Some plates are very expensive e.g. A5TON went 10 years ago for £75000 and MAG1C is rumoured to have gone for £250,000, MUS1C went for an undisclosed account.
The previous pattern plates identified year of production with a letter at the start of the plate e.g. L for 94, M ofr 95, N for 96, these changed every 1st August so cars are typically described as a 94 / 95 on an M.
Before this it was the same just the age letter was at the end of the plate.
Hope this makes sense

Well...not exactly. The "S" in the MINI Cooper S stands for "Sport", not for "Supercharged" like most people think. So I think it is still safe to refer to the 07's as a "MCS". Although MCT is cool too
.
Thanks for the insight. Being a 1st timer MCS owner, although a fan of the car since the late 80's, I had no clue. Thanks again. I do like the MCT theme, my wife does not. Truth is, I have not really decided on a true plate name as of yet. Maybe I will have to re think my MCT idea.
I WAS going to get personalized plates, although I couldn't figure out what since we just get 6 digits. Then I got my random-issued plate: 007 ---. Doesn't seem to be worth changing now. I think Hubby's against personalized plates because he's afraid someone's going to report him *exceeding* the limit through the twisties. He even changed out the personalized plate I bought for his classic Porsche!
Great plate! When you get a personalized plate in the UK, do you buy the plate for life, transferable to other cars, or do you have to renew annually as we do here in Texas (for $40)?
