Fuel display question (problem?)

On the MCS, how many hashmarks do you have remaining when you're down to your last gallon? The number of lights is roughly equivalent to the number of gallons in the tank, but I still have two showing (albeit in red) when my fuel gets to one gallon. Is the display inaccurate?

I can only go by what I've read in the manual, but I seem to recall the color of the indicators being more important than the number illuminated. Red means you have, at most, 30 more miles worth of fuel.

Again, I don't have my Mini yet (only two more weeks!) so it's hard to confirm.

Havent counted but are there really 13 hashes? not to mention the tank is 13.2 so is it 13.2/hashes ... Lots factors involved.

Usuually my car hits 2 red hashes at and around 70 miles till empty.

My R56 MCS has 10 hashes, so given that it holds 50 litres in the fuel tank and the last 2 hashes are red, this would indicate 10% of fuel left or 5 litres.

On the other hand when I get down this low I put the trip computer on to see what miles are left at current consumption.

I have an 07 MC made for the American market, which means I have the 13.2 gallon tank. with one tick mark left you will have less than 30 miles worth of fuel left in the tank. I know this because I ran my car to almost empty last weekend with the computer giving me constant range updates.

I thought MC had 10.8 gallon tank, not 13.2. Spare tire takes up some room hence the 10.8 gallon tank.

There's a thread about this. Apparently, when MC owners are filling up, they're finding that their car takes 12 or more gallons. I asked my MA about this after he filled my MC with gas (it took 12.5 gallons). He told me that MINI "is vague" about the gas tank capacity (why, I don't know), that the R56 MC gas tank is 13.2 gallons, not 10.6 as stated in the manual. By the way, the R53 MC's also had spare tires and the tank was 13.2 gallons.

I think someone's going to run out of gas. Hopefully not me.

My car is a little off calibration, I think, and when the hashmarks go down to two I'm going to be at a gas station--better safe than walking...
