This may be a dumb question, but do those units plug directly in, or is there a wire, so that you can mount the unit elsewhere?

 

Yes, both come with cables so you can mount them anywhere on your dash. You could also unplug them and move them from one car to another.

ALTA has a BOOST g that will give you boost amd vacum

 

Boost and Vacuum will be shown on one gauge, above zero is boost amount and should show below zero at low engine load.

Turbo LeBaron had many functions that required vacuum
(like Power Brakes and A/C Ducting doors) and there was a check valve to hold the vacuum (in PB Accumulater) and if it leaked,
A/C Doors would move under high boost (and there could be a difference in brake response)
