R56 ...I love my R56 MCS
Wait - I'm management -
OK - MY hobnailed oppressive boots!
So there.
If you really need some positive comments on your car, here are a couple of hints that might help you in the future when you buy your next car.
- Don't insult an entire generation of car owners or previous car owners by worrying about jeolously and calling them trolls ... not a good idea if your looking for some "positive" reinforcement. If your confident about your acquisition, what do you care about what they think

- And don't insult every other car owner on the road by writing sentences like "It is rocket fast with power to blow by anything around me, in every gear." That really isn't a good way to get positive reinforcement on your cool rocket car.
say what?, but glad you love your car!

Not trying to be harsh, so forgive the tone (just a little)
anyone who says a stock mini cooper S is faster than a z4 3.0 and a boxster, heck any one who says they swear it feels a heck of a lot faster or quicker does not know their cars.... and more importantly they have not driven the fore mentioned cars.
glad you are enjoying your car, keep smiling!

As others have pointed out, I don't think R53 guys are jealous. It's not as if they are poor or stuck with their cars. Some actually prefer the older model and I'm sure others would trade up if they felt that strongly about the R56. They are both wonderful cars and there is no need for jealousy from either side.
I've actually decided not to take delivery of my R56 and I am going to get an R53 ...because in my case I think it is a better match between car and driver ....and I sure hope I tossed the coin correctly !!!
I wish you many miles of happy motoring. Thanks again for your impressions.

The pot calls the kettle Black!!!!!!
Personally it looks like many people are way too sensitive. I've certainly been guilty myself. Lately I have a different perspective because I've been spending more time driving my MINI and less time discussing it or feeling like I need to defend it. Life is too short --- get over it all!
Stupid comments are just that. Let them go.
Comments that paint with broad brushes are usually by their nature insensitive and usually ignorant. IMO, calling someone on it is good, debating the ignorant points is silly.
There is so much good stuff and good people on these theads to concentrate on.

We are all Mini owners and/or Mini lovers. I don't think I'm alone in saying that I would rather discuss my enjoyment of the car and the differences between the two gens in an educated and open-minded manner. No more taking sides; no more lines drawn in the sand. Those of us who own (or will own) an R56 have done so only because we fell in love with the R50/R53 first.

+1
Well said!
Posts that are inflammatory or overly opinionated serve only one purpose... That is to divide and offend. If we react to these posts then we aid/abet that purpose. There are persons who, when they cease to shock us, cease to interest us. Perhaps it is best to ignore such posts in the future.
spykdpunch has the right of it in that we are all Mini owners and/or Mini lovers. It is that mindset that should unite us and put an end to this pointless debate.
It is rocket fast with power to blow by anything around me, in every gear...It truly grips the road and handles better than any car I have ever had, and all but 2 I have ever driven. I don't know the tested comparative numbers, but I absolutely swear to you that it feels significantly quicker and sportier than the BMW Z4 and and Porche Boxter.
To me a Mini is a MINI is a MINI. I owned a 2002 Cooper S for 4 1/2 years and I liked that car better than any car I have owned and I now own a 2007 Cooper S and I appreciate the way the car has evolved. I would have been disappointed if it had not evolved and I would have been disappointed if it had been radically redisigned.
I have no regrets getting the 2007 Cooper S and I am glad that I owned the 2002. I am going to wave to all Mini/MINI owners when I pass them on the road and would like a wave back.

Look folks - there are plenty of negative comments about the R56 in the R50/53 forum. There are not R56 owners over there having angry fits about the comments. If you want to smooth things out you have to just walk away from these comments, and not participate.
I am passionate about the R56, yet I restrain myself from facing off against R56 criticism in the R50/53 forum. Can everybody who is upset about this post do the same here on the R56 forum? For the good of the board? Can we see if that will let things calm down for a few weeks? What do you say?
Nobody is telling you to get lost. Its your choice to drop this and walk away.

Wow, I'm amazed at storm this has created
First I apologize to the board manager, if the way this thread is turning out is causing you any headaches. You do a great job, and there is a lot of quality stuff for Mini owners on this board. It provided great ideas that helped me pick out a car and options that ulimately made this such a good fit for me. It has been a fun support group as I waited for months for my new toy. It also has given me ideas that I will soon make a reality with regard to audio enhancements (I think I am going to change the amp, add two subwoofers, and change out a number of the speakers with premium quality Boston Acoustics ones.)
I don't know how many people by the end of this thread actually read my initial post, but I clearly stated that I was not a "real car guy," (for God's sake, I also drive a Chevy Suburban, with a baby seat) and was simply providing the opinion of Joe shmoe new R56 owner. (Most owners of this car will be like me - more than half in fact, probably will have much less experience with sports cars.) I also did not, anywhere in my post, attack the ealier model Mini, which I have long admired, and because my R56 was ordered sight unseen was the inspiration for the car I bought. There was obviously more of a tone of defiance to the sniping earlier owners than I intended when I wrote my post, and that came out of frustration with the lack of positive R56 info, and the overabundance of unfavorable comparison posts I found yesterday on this "2nd Generation Mini/R56" board. (along with my basketball team losing, and those of you who are sports fans, understand what I am talking about) Sorry, really.
For the record, I did own a 2002 Porsche Boxter, or I should say my wife drove it, until a couple years ago when we traded it in for a still pretty sporty Cadillac STS (better Mommy car). Sorry I spelled Porsche, along with about 10 other words incorrectly - thanks for catching that. My little brother owns a 2005 BMW 2.5i Z4, so I have in fact driven that car too. I will continue to maintain, regardless of your mockery, that my new Mini feels quicker and sportier than both the Boxter and Z4. (By the way, my brother bought his Z4 new for almost exactly the same $34k I spent on my loaded R56.) My car definately seems to respond quicker in every gear, and neither of them, as nice as they handle (especailly the Porsche) corner and hold like a go cart.
If you knew more about me, I'm sure it would add additional interest and context to this, but I will keep that private. I won't ever fit in as a real mini enthusiast in the eyes of most here it seems, but I certainly applaud the creators of this car - it is special, and I wish all of my fellow Mini owners well.
I may even torture you again some day with another post. (It was very flattering to recieve a "worst post ever" nomination)

I'm sure most here would agree you yours was a long way from worst post.
You seem very enthusiastic about your R56 MCS and, as one who is yet to drive one every day, that is very encouraging!!!
