Hey all, it's been such a long time since I checked out this site. My '07 NFR was the first of it's kind in Canada, so I guess that makes me vintage now? I'm sitting at 70,000 kms (45,000 mi) and still going along! I've had a few sputtering problems on the highway - due to an intake adjustment still not quite right.....a few more door dings....otherwise still happily motoring!

I keep looking over the new models coming out, but still loving "Bubbles" - I drive onto the lot once in a while, all the sales guys come out and say "I've never seen a car with those options - this one's unique!" That makes me smile a little.

So...hello from one of the old guys here...both my MINI and I!!

DBman....

Hi everybody !!! It's been ages since I last checked on this site. I've been quite busy really... changing jobs, and so.... but I'm fine, and so is Betty Boop, my NFR darling. I gave her a present this month: additional headlights. Actually I had an accident earlier this month and as the radiotor grill had to be replaced, I asked to put the correct one as to add the additional headlights. And here's the beauty:

Isn't she lovely ?

By the way, I'm way over 80'000 km with her (that's something like almost 50'000 miles). She will be 3 years old in December.

Betty Boop is looking Marvelous!!!!! And hello DBman too! Malcolm is happily weathering the extreme heat wave here in the desert. Just passed 58K and still in love. Although I will admit to visiting MINI USA and configuring a MINI Coupe and dreaming a little.

NFR Rules as always!

"Betty-Boop's gettin down tonight" (ok, I changed the song a little?). Looks fab, baby! Bubbles had a front-ender a few years ago too...a little old lady backed into him and puncture'd his "face"...a new rad for me too!

CJ: I, too, find myself daydreaming on the configurator. I've decided to ride Bubbles up to the 10 yr mark, then slurge on the black-and-red JCW, if it's still around in 6 more years? (Thinking it looks like the MINI version of the batmobile!) But still, isn't it wonderful to dream?

Cheers to NFR. Can you believe it's been 4 yrs since this color rolled off the assembly line? Oh, what a ride it's been!

Hi dear NFR friends ! it's been a long while... hope you are all doing fine, and motoring happily on your NFR MINIs !

As for me, I have some bad and good news... the good news is that I'm going to trade in my Betty Boop for ... a MCS convertible.... arrival sometime next month... really can't wait !
... and the bad news is that it means of course that I will be leaving the NFR club but I'm still a member for a month or so...

The reason for this change is that Betty is a Diesel, and I don't do that many kilometers any more, since changing jobs last year. So it doesn't make sense to drive a diesel anymore... and I must admit that after trying out a Cooper S convertible, it was like love at first drive

Too bad I can't get it in NFR, though...

Dear NFR friends,
well, that's it, today was my last day with Betty Boop. She's now in someone else's hands, who I hope will take care of her and love her as much as I did.

It was also a beautiful day for me because I received my new MCS cabriolet. A great car and lots of fun to drive.

I hope you are all doing fine. It was a pleasure to be part of the NFR gang... so long!

A feeling of nostagla has overtaken me. Are the NFR peeps still out there? We bid a fond farewell to Betty Boop but have others gone the way of an upgrade? Malcolm is doing great and have been enjoying that precious time of the No Car Payment. Alas, I do see eye the new 2 seater coupe....

Still here - my '08 NFR Cooper is going strong at around 50000 miles.
Looking forward to fitting the winter tires in a couple of months (NOT!!) to cope with another Canadian winter...

As of today Chucky has accumulated 98,001 miles of motoring amazement. We relocated to Portland back in February and have been enjoying every twisty road we can find. Last year Emily had some custom stripes designed and installed, which I forgot to post, so here they are.

Love Chucky's new stripes !!! way to go !!!

As for me, I had the pleasure of coming across dear Betty Boop a while ago on the highway. NFR hatches are very rare here, especially with the add-ons Betty has: additional lights, blackjack side scuttles and mirror cups, grill badge holder, MCS chrome gas filler cap.... so we knew the moment we saw her that it was her! Nice to know she's still in the area...

How great to see Betty Boop out on the road! I sold my first 2003 Indy Blue MINI to man who was buying it for his wife. After the sell, he was explaining how it had to be changed to suit her, including changing the color. I'll never recognize him now. :(

Hello All! It's been since 2008 that I last checked in here! Rosey is still going strong, got her nose punched in by a trailer hitch but recently got that fixed. I too am considering trading her in for a convertible though. That's actually what brought me back to NAM, trying to figure out what color might be close to NFR. Was looking at the colors offered and Spice Orange seemed pretty close to NFR and it got me thinking!
It's great to see some of the names I remember from back in the day.
If anybody has seen Spice Orange in person let me know!

Hey folks! Yep, Romi and I are still alive and motoring along! 75,000 miles of motoring bliss. She is still a happy camper and is still causing me to smile each time I crank her up and take her out for a spin.

Another one bites the dust!

I still have my '08 NFR Cooper. 60K miles, give or take. I still get compliments ("that's a nice colour - what's it called?") and it's running just fine.

Sign me up!

Love the color, sometimes wine, sometimes deep ruby, other times brown.

Opinions on stripe color addition welcome! Silver, white, black, carbon fiber?

Me and Romi are on our way passed 85,000 miles as she approaches her seventh birthday.

Still having way too much fun.

I figure to hang on to this girl as the next generation Mini's lost their soul (or was robbed of it by BMW), making this the one and only Mini I will ever have.

Oh, forgot to mention. Keep an eye out on your thermostat housing folks. BMW decided to plague our Mini's with a thermoplastic unit which can disintegrate without warning.

I got lucky and spotted some dripping before mine gave out and got it replaced.

Also worth noting: I have been running Bridgestone Ecopia 422's on Romy for a few thousand miles now and am very happy to report, have seen an impressive increase in gas mileage.

Best yet? 43.1MPG @ avg speed of 32.3MPH The gas mileage is calculated and not the ODBC readout. The average speed is from the ODBC readout.

I have yet to fall below 40MPG since the change to the 422's. I should caution you. The 422's are incredibly quiet on good roads, but not very forgiving on rough roads. Not as bad as the Dunlop runflats, but almost.

In the wet, the 422's are the best tire I have ever owned. Romy sticks to the street like she was glued to it, even when it is wet.

Hello all! It's been so long. Malcolm and I had 7+ years together but, alas, we parted ways this past Sunday. Our parting was sweet and we remain good friends. I'm on the road these days with my new partner Norris. He is a Midnight Black 2015 Cooper S Roadster. We spent today topless on the mountain roads out to Canyon Lake. Had to stop in to say a fond farewell to you NFRs!!

Stupid Question-How Do I Post?

I haven't been on the site for a few years and can't figure out how to create a new post. Can someone help?

Thanks!

Romy and I are still going strong. She just crossed 100,000 miles. She has been one of the lowest maintenance costs cars I have ever had. Aside from the thermoplastic thermostat housing needing to be replaced, she has had nothing but normal maintenance.

Heck, the original battery lasted seven years!

I am considering replacing the timing chain and clutch just as a precaution.

Over 40MPG now and running better than new is the only thing stopping me.

Carjoy! Say it ain't so! Sorry to see Malcolm leave. Hope your new Mini is a good one.
