R56 Best R56 mileage...
7 weeks, 2000 miles, overall avg 30.5 mpg (tank), avg speed only 33 mph, so intown driving (sport on always, AC usually off). Highway is more like 34-35mpg. Read a review today of the new Nisson Altima hybrid. He got 35 mph in mixed use. The Mini's not bad, eh?
now that i re-read what I said about how i drive, it's actually quite obvious why i dont get great mpg's
sillly me
today i was driving with my mom in the car, she asked why i was driving so... not fast... I replied "better fuel economy mom"
coasting FTW

do you shift outta first gear? My S averages ~390-400/tank and I drive pretty hard almost all the time. I also refill before getting to empty.
My shift points are above 4k and i basically drive 15 miles a day to and from work. As long as it gets better mileage than my Porsche Im happy

MCS Auto, drive to San Diego & Back, average of about 80mph, OBC said about 32-33mpg average the trip. Not bad. If I drop the speed to 70 it goes up to 36mpg. Oh, this is with 4 adults in the car and a full tank of gas.
hehe that explains a bit =)
I have had Mombo for nearly a month now and I always put 91 octane in. However, on my trip out to Virginia Beach for the GWR 300 Run, only 93 octane was available and my OBC said I was getting between 44.5 mpg. I stopped and filled him up (with 93 again) and he took 10.65 gallons and I went a distance of 454 miles. Doing the math I was getting 42.6 mpg! I zeroed out the range again and for the rest of the 150 miles home, my OBC said 48.5 mpg! I was even going in stop and go traffic on Rt. 13 in VA, MD and DE. I am very anxious to fill him up again and check the math manually. But is this high mpg really even possible? I thought the highest mpg was supposed to be ~40? Neither less, I am absolutely thrilled with everything about my MC! My husband now wants one, so hopefully soon we'll be a 2 Mini family!
For my MCS, 35.3 on the computer, 29 calculated. (This was the first tank of gas and the mileage may have been off a tad in my calculations.) Running 92 octane.
Average speed on this tank was around 24 - lots of stop and go commuting mixed in with some hghway miles.

another anecdote. A buddy of mine, who took delivery of his r56 mc 6spd back in may, just told me he got 600 miles out of his tank with 93 v-power. the obc said he had only 20 miles left. Filled up with more v-power goodness his mileage worked out to be 42.9 mpg!!!!
He figures the true capacity of the tank is around 14.2 gallons, which he was trying to determine. So more power to you all r56 coopers!!!
Why weren't you at the last RGRSCCA auto-x?

My OBC is reading in the low 36s (36.1-36.4) in my MCS with 3K miles on it, in almost all highway driving, over 3 tanks of gas.
No, I'm not tailgating you, sir, I'm just drafting you to catch some better MPG numbers

I just got gas for the first time after getting my bad injector replaced and got 32.1 in mixed driving (OBC said 32.8). This is the best I've gotten to date and I'm not sure if its the injector being good now and/or a combo of the exhaust and intake, either way I'm very happy
and IMO I will hit 40 mpg on the freeway w/ the cruize on going 70-75 mph (already hit 38.4)!

I replied earlier, but then I took a trip last week of 1000 miles roundtrip at freeway speeds of 80+ mph. I fueled up twice on the trip, drove the 1000 freeway miles as well as some local driving in the destination and on a side trip. Both tanks got 500+ miles on them (I had a little in the tank before I set off, maybe 1/4 tank). I got 40+ mpg while on the highway (not on cruise, only did about 38 on cruise, i guess it is harder when the car cruises to maintain the same linear speed and not the same engine speed, as I can when I am in control. A really, really big hill does not require 80+ speeds when no one else's car can even attempt to go up that fast), and did my usual 34-36 in town. I drive a MCS manual. I am thrilled with the mileage on this car.
Just got through doing a 513 mile trip this weekend. Overall gas mileage was 39.6MPG. But the last tank (after going past break-in miles) was 42.2MPG at an average speed of 60.8MPH (most of the time I was driving 70MPH)! WOOT!
The mileage is going up, up, up!
Once again the MINI has surprised me! With my regular mixed driving this past weekend my family and I did some driving in the MINI. It covered all surface streets and w/ the A/C . Only part of the way home had us on the freeway and I ended up getting 37.5 mpg (OBC said 37.0) I'm truely amazed at this car!!!
Why buy a hybrid?
I'm simply amazed by the gas millage on our MCS 6spd!
In town here in Chicago (highway, local, mixed) I'm getting about 33 MPG. With the roof rack, I loose about 1 MPG. On our recent 3000+ mile trek to MOT 2007 we averaged 36.4 on the highway. This was with the AC on and doing mostly 75-80.
