R56 Best R56 mileage...
I am taking off next week so we can go motoring all over the state of Texas.
I also have a new set of speakers, strut brace, and sway bar to install in her. So many things to do, so little time to motor!!!

I posted this on the gas tank thread as well.. but here it is again
MC manual - I put 457 miles since I got it 5/12 - city driving, highway driving and rural country road driving (sport button is FUN). I drove until I got the reserve tank warning (two red bars) then filled it up with 12.3 gallons. According to the computer I got 37mpg. I think this is great - especially for the break-in period.

Skuzzy, the way it was explained to me yesterday is that it's 15,000 OR 1 year, whichever comes first.
Did you miss a zero when you said your first week netted a paltry 68 miles? For someone who was a certifiable (and proud) whiner, that's not very much!

AVG Speed... that's what that number is! The last time I looked it was ~32 mph or so. I kinda put the owner's manual to the backburner and just driving. Not quite sure how to work the wipers and if there's more options on the stereo displays. Gonna have to give her the first wash this weekend too. A good layer of dirt building up all over, but it still sparkles!
Well on my trip to Grand Rapids from the metro Detroit area I got 38.4 mpg, but keep in mind the construction zones that took me down to 45-60 a good number of times, so I'm not sure but I think I could've gotten that elusive 40 mpg. My family and I are going to Chicago in 2 weeks, so we'll see how that goes. BTW, I left the sport button OFF for the trip FWIW
I have taken the last week of May off so I can do nothing but spend time with Romi motoring all over the state of Texas.
Lots of good info on this thread.
Here are my figures which are a little confusing:
Tank 1---359 miles---12.824 gallons---27.99mpg---OBC=35.2mpg
Tank 2---377 miles---13.771 gallons---27.36mpg---OBC=35.0mpg
Tank 3---407 miles---13.614 gallons---29.89mpg---OBC=37.8mpg
It's early days for Tank #4 (I've only driven 35 city miles), but I have a 41.4mpg average and a range of 473 miles (see pics below).

Any idea why there would be such a big difference between actual mpg and OBC mpg?
Thanks,
--Steve

Four miles/day?
I walk/run my dog more than that. Maybe you should put a leash on Romi and start doing the same, otherwise you'll have one fat MINI in no time?

In my short experience, 2 fill ups to date, the OBC has been pretty accurate w/ the mpg calculation. I will make a point of doing it manually and resetting the OBC for the next fill up and will report back.
OK, you guys are bumming me out! After 3200 miles, I'm still only getting 27 to 29 mpg whether I figure it the old way, or w/ the OBC. I'm mostly driving the mean streets of L.A., and live on top of a very steep hill. I do sneak in some late night freeway cruises here and there, and tend to shift at around 4000 rpm. I'm using Shell premium, and don't leave home without the Sport button. Thoughts?

You're not far away from the mark. So I think you could change the shifting and not using the sport button for a little bit and reset the OBC to see what you get.
This is all my opinion though...I'm totally not good with understanding cars, but from previous experience I think this should help. Good luck!

Just filled the tank today. I also have been using Shell 91.
Trip odometer: 257.6 miles
Galleons: 8.46
Dubloons: $32.31
Calculated MPG: 30.45
I don't recall the exact number of the OBC, but it was 30.something.
Total miles on the car: 986 (not bad for 16 days)
This trip consisted of about 60 miles of country roads, 40 of which was a spirited drive through twisties. No passengers.
The remainder was a round trip from Carmel Valley to San Carlos on Hwy 101 to buy woodworking toys at Woodcraft Supply. Driver and one passenger. Stayed with flow of traffic which ranged from 55 to 80 mph. Some attempt was made (when I remembered) to vary the speed, so a little harder on the mileage than it could be. Tried to keep shift points below 4500, but not far. Foot has a tendency towards leaden qualities.
I am halfway through my first tank of gas and the computer says I am aaveraging 26.1MPG. I keep forgetting about the sport button. I have not pressed it yet. I try to maintain 2K RPM once out of first. Most all my driving is in town and I rarely get out of 4th gear. Seems I am getting the worse gas mileage of all. I have yet to break 4K RPM and I think the most throttle I have given her is maybe half.
I keep trying different things to improve the gas mileage but it seems I am stuck in the 26MPG range. When I was driving the Lexus daily, I would get around 22-24MPG. I figure once Romi is all broken in the mileage should improve a bit.

BTW - noone mentions the brand of gas. Does it make a difference? (I.E. Shell VPower vs Costco whatever vs VS BP vs Texaco?). Did someone see any difference in consumption (and/or engine response), providing all of it is 9x gas?

LOL! She is going to get some serious motor time this coming week,..IF the weather will finally clear up some. Benn rather putrid about these parts lately. Not Texas weather at all. More like Seattle. Constantly gray/cloudy with daily rains.

Not really trying to baby her. She just motors about so well I find I do not need to dip into the throttle thaty much. I also have neglected the 'sports' button as well.
Besides, I am usually wedged in traffic and it dictates how fast I can accelerate and drive.
