waiting at the Port!
the guy at ASK MINI made it sound like it would be a long time before Peppy got on board?

How is everyone looking things up by booking number? is that the VIN?

Well wth? I ordered mine on 2/28, called Mini USA on 3/5 when I got the production number. I was told mine would be a week 11 car. I called Mini USA yesterday and was told that it's scheduled for production after being "On Order" up until yesterday. I'm on hold now to find out what's going on.

** Edit **

Well, after talking to Mini USA and getting the crap scared out of me I got the real info from my MA. The guy at Mini USA told me that it was scheduled to START on 3/26/07. I was about to crawl through the phone and set someone's behind on fire! I talked to my MA and he checked whatever website they use and told me that it started production this morning at 6:10am. Actually, it was 6:10 am and 32 seconds... I'm at 150 status!

I'm on-board for Week 11. In assembly now, estimated completion tomorrow. I look forward to hearing when it boards ship and leaves the dock as anything short of that still feels just like standing still.

I hope my current car lasts - it's falling apart.

MCS, Laser Blue, Sport Pkg, Leather MFSW, LSD, white roof/wheels/stripes, all-season tires, chrome line interior, interior surface fluid silver, cloth seats, rear fog, Hi-Fi.

That's great news. Remember, though, we're not on board until the ship sails. Sometimes, cars show up as being loaded aboard the ship and then are taken off before it leaves port. We'll keep our fingers crossed that they're still there tomorrow.

Why weird? That's the first stop, where the frame itself is put together. From there it will go to the paint shop and then to assembly. And then out the door to Southampton.

i thought it was weird because it took 4 days just for the first step? i thought these things were built in about 3 days or so.....

I'd say three or four days might be typical. My car build took nine days start to finish. Good luck in getting yours finished.

Arggh, that wouldn't be good, I've already started fixing up the nursery (garage).

My first attempt at a image post.

For those who may (or may not) be riding on the Maersk Wind, it's docked in Southampton loading MINIs (among other things I'm sure).

With less than two hours to go before the 11 p.m. local time scheduled push off for the Maersk Wind, my car was loaded onto the ship. Now, I'm crossing my fingers hoping it remains there when the ship sails.

I'm hoping that the rest of you that had your cars booked on the Wind also get aboard. I think the fobs they sent through the mail allow you to honk the horn remotely so that our cars can find each other and hang out together during the cruise.

My car is showing that it has been loaded on as well. Now, lets just stay there until she gets to LA in a few weeks.

The other thing I noticed is that it appears the Maersk Wind has not been sending out location information. The last tracking data from the ship itself was when it was going around Africa on December 28 of 2006. I hope they change that. I'm not ready to stop being obsessive about this just yet.

Looks like my MINI has also been loaded. I'm keeping my fingers crossed as well hoping it stays that way. I've read in another thread that an email prompted one ship to start with the weather updates that allow us to track location. I'll see if I can find the post and send an email off. Maybe we'll get lucky.

On the road, urr, sea

The Maersk Wind has shoved off, according to the voyage details page on the WW site. Hope that all of your cars remained aboard. Mine is showing it's still loaded.

Same for the MAERSK TEAL - last information sent on April 27, 2005!! I don't have much hope they'll start sending tracking info now.....

mcarlo52: did you find that thread about sending an email to prompt a ship to start sending out location information? Might be worth a shot....

Good luck to everyone. I just checked and mine's still showing as being loaded on the MAERSK TEAL, so it should make it to New York on the 23rd.
