No windy conditions, yet. To make sure it's strapped in tight I give it a pretty vigorous shaking once I'm done and it does a pretty good job of rocking the entire car. My kayak launch is only about 15 minutes from my house, and while I have complete faith in the kayak staying on the car for any duration drive, I'm still reluctant to take it more than an hour away. It just nags on my brain. The more I drive with it, the more I'll be comfortable with it up there. I hope.

^^I remember years ago when I was poorer, I had a Mazda GLC and used to strap a 17' yellow canoe on top. Wind was a bear since there was so much canoe sticking out the front and back. Never blew off but moved catiwoompuss (sp) a couple of times.

Nice shot from MOTD

My son took this in front of Tapoco Lodge Gas Station while attending MOTD 10.

That is a nice pic.

They use to say, "You can trust your car to the man who wears the star. The great big Texaco Star."

How many of you are old enough to remember that one?

I sure am - depending on your point of view that is either fortunate or unfortunate....

I remember watching the Texaco sponsored Milton Berle show on
our 14" Muntz B/W T.V. with rabbit ears and the amazing selection
of THREE different channels !

I love that picture. Pretty MINI and colorful nostalgia.

Thank man. It took me for ever to pick my wheels and I'm so happy that the oz is what I went for. Its the exact look I wanted. I also upgraded my rotors to cross drille ld which looks amazing. I jut need to do something with my ugly faded calipers

This thread is giving me serious MINI withdrawals. My R56 has been in the shop having the thermostat replaced (leaking coolant!) since Thursday. And I JUST had my new rims and tires installed Tuesday. ugh.

Why so long just to change out the thermostate? When mine leaked the dealership changed it out within 2 hours. I waited.

Get some G2 expoxy paint and paint 'em. Jack it up on stands, take the wheels off, clean them with a wire brush and brake cleaner and paint. Takes about an hour and you can put the wheels back on within 2 hours. Can't drive it for 24 hours though.
Let's see some pics of those wheels also.

They didn't know what was wrong with it. It overheated Wednesday and was out of coolant, so I filled it and it did it again thursday, but until classes were over and the tow truck arrived and traffic we didn't get it to the shop until late thursday. Then they spent a while Friday diagnosing it. Then they had to call the insurance and get the repairs approved before they could start working on it. (we purchased an aftermarket warranty (i'm out of factory warranty now) when we purchased the car from an Acura dealer). By the time everything got done they didn't have time friday afternoon, so they said they'd finish it up Monday.

^^^ Got ya. I was in a pinch when my leaked but I know if it ever happens again, looks like a fairly easy (1-2 hour job for me) I'll do it myself. I think the part is only like $107.
Hopefully it'll hold up longer. Mine leaked at around 58K on the car.

Not to mention the good ole aluminum foil on the rabbit ears to help reception. Man, those were the days.
