I believe it was under $200. My wife got it for me for Father's Day so I'm not 100%.

Worth every penny of it to me. Doug designed it to specifications. Feels great when I'm shifting and looks superb on the car.

2008 MC is here!

Here are some pics of my new 2008 MC R56, fresh from it's maiden voyage to/from Destin, FL. Just got some new shoes (thanks Robin!).

Any suggestions for names? So far I've got Niles, Nigel, Luchia and Rosarita.

Thanks!

drive it around a little and get a feel for it and maybe a charateristic of the drive/feel may spark a name better for you. Niles sounds pretty cool to me

Yes, Thank You

None of the factory MINI interior options suited me for comfort, I had been spoiled by my twenty year old Chrysler seating,
so I just got the standard Leatherette without armrest, with plan to 'fix' it
(I should add that ALL the Recent Auto Seats have been too firm for me).

I ordered the MINI kit from Wet Okole and the European Armrest and forty pounds of 5 Lb. Memory Foam and went to work.

I had also ordered an extra supply of the 320 Solar Yellow 'wet suit' material to cover the armrests and still have plenty for the dash but will let it alone for now.

The seats have the pneumatic Lumbar Supports (see squeeze bulbs, usually alongside parking brake) and I put four inch thick Memory Foam under covers seat and back. It provides excellent support but it is so soft that it compresses to less than ½ inch below your 'harder' parts so no loss of headroom with it. The Center Armrest in the photo above had just ¾ inch and I re-did it using 2½ inches Memory Foam as seen below:

Ten years ago, they charged $95 to include Two Inch's of Tempered Foam on my Pilot Seat

and 'sitting on a cloud' has me spoiled.

Seat kit (fronts only) was $375 w/lumbars and the extra (couple yards) of material and shipping.

European Armrest was $219+ship from Outmotoring, but then saw that Minspeed had them for $190,
but would have had to charge 6% Florida tax.

The bargain of the day was the Memory Foam. I visited a local 'Foam Shop' and bought plenty of 'remenant's for the job,
along with "Ram-Tack" adhesive for a little over $50 cash.

You must do a lot of cutting and triming (with an electric kitchen carving knife) to get the exact size and fit that you want.

You can put a block in the freezer for twenty minutes and it cuts and belt sands like balsa wood for a minute.

I must add thanks to Robin Casady's web page on How-To Cover Armrests, especially the "Skiving" tip

pilotart,

Can you comment on the "heat" factor of the seat covers? Leatherette is just to warm for me. Your covers look like they have an outstanding fit; if they seem to be cooler than leatherette, those covers could solve the only gripe I have with my Mini.

No heat factor at all,
extremely comfortable seating and they came with pre cut and bordered fittings around headrests and release levers (as well as AirBags).

Just request (From their website) them to send you some free color selection samples ("order swatches").

That material is super comfortable to the touch, or to sit on and easy to shampoo any stain.

If you are close to Costa Mesa; pasted below from their website:

WET OKOLE HAWAII
1727 Superior Ave. Costa Mesa, CA 92627
Ph: (949) 548-1543 Fax: (949) 548-3921

Both locations cater to walk-in customers and install custom seat covers free of charge. If you live in Oahu <...>
If you live in Southern California you can request an installation appointment when you submit your online order.
I had never done any upholstery or seat covers and my 'Memory Foam' was the major part of my project,
still less than one short days work. Would expect two hours max for covers.

Warning on seat removal; don't turn ignition on until after reconnecting air bag plug, it will set a warning that the dealer has to reset on your nickle.

Any idea how they might perform at the track? Any issues with slipping around on the seats?

I never 'Track' but since you 'sink-in' and have soft cushion support on sides as well as back/bottom, would expect to not move or slip at all.

The above is My Custom Memory Foam over standard seating, have never sat in a seat with Just the Wet Okole Covers. They come with just a ½ inch of padding under the 'wet-suite' material from Wet Okole.

Wet Suite material is a sandwich with neoprene in center and fabric outside, on mine the Yellow insert portion is smoother in texture than the Black outer portions.

I would ask Okole about textures ideal for tracking and would expect that Standard or Sport style seats would make a big difference (without my T-Foam mod).

When I asked Wet Okole about my Memory Foam idea, they had no clue on what I was talking about

Here are some pic's of my MCS. I've been meaning to go out and take photos of my car for a while now. I finally go out today, yet I made a huge mistake and that was trying to take photos at high noon when the sun was super intense. It washed out almost all the photos and especially some of the cool shots I had planned. So, here are a few of the photos I was able to salvage, yet more artful photos coming in the coming weeks.

more external/body mod's in the works:
-rear JCW aero kit diffuser is going to get carbon fiber treatment
-slightly shorter springs

Rest of the stuff I am doing is on the engine.
