R56 Sizzling Noise?
Sizzling Noise?
Okay.. Call me paranoid.. But whenever I go out to drive and come back.. I hear a sizzling noise after I turn off the car coming from the front.. Sounds like around the Turbo..
Is this normal? Is it cooling down? I went into Walmart and left and it took me like 20 mins and when I got out it was gone..
:impatient
Also kinda sounds like someone is letting the air out of a balloon through a small hole but slowly.

Do you even have an R56 or are you just here to create more drama.
We get it... you don't like the R56. I can appreciate that...to each their own. I think anyone who visits this forum on a regular basis gets it. Get it?
In C4's defense he IS describing a pretty common noice that is VERY noticable under the hood of the R56S when the engine is running... but it has nothing to do with the valaves (though it does sound a lot like valvas knocking).
The chatter (almost soulds like a diesel-esque rattle) is from the shared fuel rail on the fuel injection system. I have a motorcycle that has the same type of fuel injection system, and it sounds just the same. Just LOUDER, since it's on a fairly exposed motorcycle engine.
Totally normal.
As for the hissing... heard this before, too. My guess is it has somthing to do with how the turbo builds, retains and vents pressure from the system. From what I've read, the turbo is using vucuum to open the waste gate, not boost pressure... so when you shut the car off I would imagine the pressure in the system has to be slowly released somehow. Probably normal?
I asked a salesman about the hissing after a test drive. He said it was the sound of the electric motor circulating engine oil to the turbo after the car is shut off. This is done until the turbo is completely cooled.

Well lets call it hissing like fjork.. Its hissing so it scares off ugly cars from parking next to it?

a very much appreciated feature that will extend the life of your turbo.
That's why you don't have to let the engine idle several minutes after playing.
Have owned 3 of them in the last 5 years and believe it or not I am on the waiting list for a new '08 R55 Clubman, which is essentially the same car as yours, but 18 inches longer with an extra rear door. Don't be so defensive
I DO NOT HATE the R56. Having criticism and a different perspective on the car doesn't automatically make you a troll
The car that you claim I despise is very much in my future, so even if I have reservations about it I still think is one fine machine.
No, no, no...

ROTFLMAO! My Mom did that to the cat once - fortunately it got chucked out by the radiator fan blade - it was a little "special" after that incident however.
Apologies then.. But learn to be more specific.. Anyone can have easily mistaken your post (especially the way you have been posting lately) with something else.
