Gabe from motoringfile did a great job of deconstructing the typical R56 complaints here:

His review is great, and fair about improvements and disappointments. But he shuts down these over the top conclusions which is great to see.

Any chance we could get a high resolution version of the overlay? The differences are subtle, but I think certain things stick out more than others. With a little better lighting and a larger image it would really help to show off the similarities and differences. Thanks!

I just did it with the images that were posted, and I had to reduce the R53 slightly to match up the wheelbase. We need higher res version of the R53 image to create the overlay. Daves image of the R56 has been posted in a larger size.

Ok--stupid question time. On the original pictures, the top pic is of the '07, right? I just don't see many differences from the side--what's all the hoopla about?

(Mine is now at the VDC, so I can't look at it yet.) :impatient

There aren't many differences. That's the point. However, there are some. Look closely at the headlights, the rear end, the trim around the wheels, and the height of the windows for the not so major changes.

There was the 1000 and 3000 roadsters. Tall forehead similar to the R56S? Hmmm... interesting observation. Either way, so beautiful . (That's the "I'll never get one, though" face).

If your referring to my earlier post, I was more referring to the curvature of the AM DB5 grille similarities (curvature down toward the lights):

...and the rib or bump running along the center of the hood like the XKE:

I have a strong longing for each one of these cars. I lived next to a guy that restored them when I was growing up. Watching the restoration process and seeing the finished product rolling around the neighborhood during those formative "new to driving" years has had a lasting effect. The sound of a restored and tuned V12 Jag when your 16... struck a chord in me, at least. I love 'em so...

Now that's great. If you drag the slider you can watch the different elements fade in and out, and it enables you to tell clearly which version the element comes from.

I wish I had photos at the same angle on the same color car and lighting, it would have been better.
