Press Launch R56 Engine Photos

MINI had an R56 MC engine in an engine stand at the press launch. Here's a collection of photos covering the engine from different angles.

There should be a stream of photos this afternoon. I'm back in L.A. doing photo processing.

I've never really spent much time looking at a turbocharged engine, and especially not a turbo 4cyl. From what I can tell, though, it looks good!

I wish.

This was the ony engine available that was on a stand and out of the car. There was no turbo engine present that wasn't already burried inside an engine bay.

steel pan...i guess they got tired of replacing the aluminum ones

i can see the coolant pipe on the backside of the motor having issues in the long run as well, very similiar the the vr6's affectionately coined "crack pipe"
