Wheel arch reflectors?

The Euro MINIs do not appear to have the reflectors in the wheel arches like the US configurator shows? Are we getting these? Do the current MINIs have them and how do they get rid of them?

The reflectors are for US spec cars to meet DOT standards. But if you want no reflectors you can buy the euro arches. They are pretty inexpensive from what I have heard. There are also pptions to smoke out the lenses with tint or by replacing the lenses with tinted aftermarket lenses.

As for the 2007 models, I'm not sure. I don't see why the same options wouldn't be there as time goes on.

Euro regs mean we do not require these, US models have to have them for the reasons above.

Here in Europe some people want them!
I got my MINI brand new whitout the reflectors, but a month later I bought them. The dealer didn't know it and all mechanics where looking to my MINI.

Yep, it's pretty funny. In the US people like to sport Euro plates. In Europe, they like US plates. Must be a 'want what you can't (don't) have' thing.

Unfortunately we now finally get rear fogs in the States, but unlike Europe, we don't know when to use them. :impatient

From what I recall from when I did min, on the current generation MINI it runs about $80 to get the replacement "euro" arches (the ones without the reflectors).

For the R56, my guess is it will be a bit more since the section of the arch that has the reflector is quite a bit larger than the section on the current generation that has the reflector. So my guess is the part cost will be a bit more and the shipping may be a bit more.

I believe that some US dealers will order the arches for you. They probably won't install 'em, though. When I was up in Connecticut, they would have caught the lack of side reflectors and failed the car on the annual inspection. Texas would probably miss it though, depending on the mechanic who does the inspection.

About $20 per arch piece is a good estimate... 4 pieces to replace.

For someone in Europe looking to add the reflectors (and lights), it's probably going to be more difficult as there would be wiring and light harnesses to add.

newministuff - just a word of warning, when you check out, in the comments field be very clear when you're ordering which car (MC/MCS) and year you have.

Here in the Netherlands you've to turn rear on (obligatorily) when the visibility is less than 50 meters. Is there no fog in the states? :impatient
I've been a couple times in the states, but I don't remember fog. It's not the thing to remember when you are on holiday.

Two weeks ago I drove the new R56 Cooper!

Same in the UK, however n continental Europe people actually know this. In the UK people turn them on for no reason and then forget to turn them off. I wonder how many people do not know what the warning light on the dsahboard is telling them.

Can't say I want the side reflectors from the US models, especally as I've changed all the indicator bulbs to silver ones.

In the US, it's customary to turn them on at all times. Because hey, you've got that button, so why not. In Europe if you do that, you're flashed mercilessly by following traffic until you turn it off (don't ask me how I know ) but here people just don't get it.
You didn't see fog? Apparently you didn't visit San Francisco!
Ik mis nederland!

It was a joke!
No, couple times at the east side of the states and Canada. We wanted this year to the west, but I was in hospital for a couple weeks.

I ordered euro arches from the UK for my 06' and had them painted along with the rest of the black trim moldings.

The euro arches cost me about $120 shipped.

no side markers for meeeee
