My MA advised me yesterday that it's looking like an August option.

That's what I was afraid of and it's not worth delaying the order for that long. My MA still thinks it should be available for March and 'will let me know if it becomes available before my production date'.

It's interesting to see the order dates as compared to build and delivery dates. I ordered my car on 1-25-07 and it is built. Unfortunately it has the MF steering wheel problem, so I'm waiting to see how Mini handles that issue. My car will come from the west coast (to New Mexico), so the travel time will be long. alas . . .

Yes, very interesting. I ordered 1-2-07 and don't even have a production date yet.

That is strange. As of now they should be able to get production numbers within a couple days even for march build cars.

you should start being a squeeky wheel.

I've been squeaking as loud and as often as possible ...but ASK MINI and my dealer keep telling me the same thing; the order has been accepted in Germany, but has not been scheduled for production. Both have confirmed that I have not ordered anything that should hold things up and both agree that 5 weeks is too long.

So, we all agree, but my order is stagnant. I've had a production number for weeks, but no production date.

This may be a silly question: Is the production week in the production number ?

My March build (week 10, according to my MA) build has a PN as of last week, for what it's worth.

ahh ok, I misread and thought you didn't have a production NUMBER yet. Did you order anything that is known to be delayed?

Nope. According to ASK MINI and my dealer I haven't ordered anything delayed. They are scratching their heads just as I am and both tell me there is nothing they can do but wait. That doesn't inspire a lot of confidence.

On the plus side, believe it or not, I am not in a rush to get the car. I am just in a rush to know when I will get the car ...and I can't know that until I get a production date.

My daughter gets her license in April, so I have no need for a third car until then. ...NOT that I would mind if it came sooner.

How can you tell?

What am I missing here? I've had my production number since 1/4 and have no idea when my car will be built.

By the way ...nice spec !

Ok, I have the final specs on my car.

This isn't going to be a track car. It's my daily commuter/road tripper. I had an MA (not my regular one) at my MINI dealership look at it and she said, "Wow... This may be the longest option list I've ever seen." I'm not sure if she was in awe or pity.

At any rate, I'm very very excited. I'm sure it will be lots of fun, and give me a new reason to get excited about going out to explore my new home state of Florida. I even found out that a slight lump in the Florida geography, Sugarloaf Mountain, can be a fun place to take your Mini for a little twisty fun. I look forward to having the Sat Nav and all the creature comforts this baby will have when I make my summer commute from Florida to northern Wisconsin for the summer. Good times ahead!

And here she is. Production Number came in last week. It is scheduled for Week 10, according to MA, and I'll likely have her mid-April.

2007 Mini Cooper S
Lightning Blue w/ White roof/mirrors
Automatic Transmission
Sports Package (w/ white bonnet stripes & crown spoke alloy runflat performance tires, in white, xenon headlights with washer jets)
Premium Package (w/ Leather MF steering wheel, auto A/C, sunroof)
Convenience Package (universal garage door, bluetooth prep, armrest, comfort access, auto wipers/lights, autodim rearview mirror
Cold Weather Package (heated seats, mirrors)
Hi-Fi Stereo (as Audio Package is reported to not be available until August by my MA)
Satellite Navigation System
Gravity Tuscan Leather Seats (inc. Creme White colorline & Piano Black int. trim)
Rear Fog Lamp
Park Distance Control
White Turn Signals
Anthracite Headliner

Dealer Installed Options:
JCW Aero Kit
Driving lamps
Tinted Windows
Black carpet floor mats
Bumper Protector
iPod Adaptor
Sun Shade

Thanks to everyone who has helped me with their advice (whether they knew it or not by responding to my and others' questions) to make this what I hope will be the perfect car for a techy/gadgety guy like myself. I hope everyone else finds an equal amount of joy in their specs!

Actually I don't know for sure, I only assume so because my MA said I was in his March allotment. I hope that's a fair assumption.

And thanks, your's look great as well.

I tend to agree.. is there anything you did NOT get (other than sports suspension since it is a daily commuter)? That would be a much shorter list!

Anyway, that is going to be one sharp MINI!

edit:

I thought of a couple things if they have them for the 07 - boot box and glovebox organiser!

p.s. - your MA owes you a very nice dinner!

Yea, I asked him if the dealership typically throws anything in. His answer, and I quote: Me: "Does <the dealership> throwin anything? Floor mats, JCW kit, etc? :-)" Answer: "JCW kit, funny! No, you would just tack them onto the price. Unfortunately, we cant throw anything in!"

Meh... I don't have other options to shop at without quite a drive. He's a nice enough guy, although a bit slow on email at times. I'll just be grateful I'm not out west paying those prices. Or, worse still, the UK.

BTW, for the record I also passed on the sports suspension, lounge leather, and those retracting mirrors. I REALLY wanted Sirius for road trips but not until August is what my MA has told me. I decided kind of impulsively to get the convenience package... originally I just was going to get bluetooth, the garage door opener and the autodim mirror (which i really like in my parents' car).

I finally decided on a color and placed my order today at Morristown MINI. The weather was terrible today in NJ and we were the only customers in the showroom. By the way, they had 2007's there for their big Saturday launch. They also had a very pretty 2005 PW/B for sale...and as I got closer to it, I saw that it was the one I had traded in a couple of weeks ago! Anyway, I went from SS/W to SS/B to CR/W to my final choice:

Oxygen Blue/White MC
Automatic transmission
Cold Weather Package
Sports Seats
Leatherette
Auto Dimming Rear View Mirror
All Season Tires
Remote Garage Door Opener
Front fog lights
Chrome Line Interior

Now, like everyone else, I wait.......
