Yellow

Has anyone seen what the yellow will look like?

I want a yellow/black MINI, which I can't get now. I was about to order a space blue '06, but if the yellow is close to Liquid Yellow or the BMW color Dakar yellow, I might wait!

Motoringfile has pictures of the new colors, Mellow Yellow looks richer than the very pale Liquid Yellow.

The new yellow looks exactly like macaroni & cheese.

Actually, the Kraft stuff looks a little more orange. You must eat the real stuff!

I'm much more fond of Mellow Yellow than Liquid Yellow.

It also smells like mac & cheese. It's part of MINI's new "Scratch & Sniff" color line. (Just be sure to rub with a microfiber instead of actually scratching)

As a proud Liquid Yellow owner, I think both colors are excellent shades of yellow. Mellow Yellow looks darker and more orange than Liquid Yellow. Neither look like the Mustard Yellow or School Bus Yellow which most auto manufacturers unwisely use.

Sounds like a good reason to wait for an 07.

Anybody seen it "in the paint?" We've seen tons of pics but it's still very hard to get an accurate read, isn't it. If it's anything like the other MINI colors, they all look fab in person. I wouldn't worry at all if I wanted a yellow MINI...if it looks good in the pics it'll look even better in person!

Then it would be the "Rub & Sniff" color line, wouldn't it?

Case in point! Pictures are deceiving:

This is probably the closest to real:

omg, you're right. I was wondering why my 10 month-old daughter was drooling over the picture. Looks like macaroni and cheese that has already been in the blender, just as she likes it best(!)

Actually, I think it is probably the background that made the camera pick-up the colors differently. I sell coins on eBay, a lot of foreign gold coins of differing gold alloy. If I use a green background the pictures turn out pretty good, a rich warm golden orange color. If I use a light blue background (like the mountains in the backgound of one of your pictures) the same coin will look like brass with no luster. You wouldn't think so, but that sort of thing makes HUGE difference on how much the coin sells for at auction.

Those pictures did it for me.

I'm getting an '07. yellow/black. I especially like the fact that it appears that the black honeycomb grill is standard.

I wonder if I can get the interior in yellow accents as well?

(I had a dakar yellow Z3. Loved the look of that car.)

If it turns out there is a reason why the current car is more desireable than the '07, I can always pick up a 'slightly used' lease return or something.

Thanks!

Right, but the car on the train is an '07, and has the black grills...

Also, the mini uk website shows all of the 'S's with black grills.

The yellow car from the auto show (my new background!) is pretty much exactly how I'd want mine to look.

I'm still struggling over color. I was thinking PW, but I wash cars infrequently, and PW shows dirt. MY has been tempting me, but I'm not sure I'm a yellow person, and it looks best with bonnet stripes, and I'm not sure I'm a bonnet stripe person. DS/DS is still my default, if it's not delayed. PS/B is possible, though common, and CR in any top color also a bit too common, and the new blues I'd need to see in person. The new red would be good, I think, but it's MC only.

I want it. Just like that.

That is going to be my new background.

(Unfortunately, I'm not buying until July, so I've got almost 9 months to obsess!

I like yellow, (although I think I prefer Liquid Yellow to the new one), red, bright blue, any of the cheerful, high visability colors. Dark Silver, Pure Silver, even black or white, just don't seem to suit what I think a MINI should be.

Based on the number of silver, PW and black MINIs I see, mine must be a minority opinion.

Sorry for my late reply...

Here's the link for the configurator (Java Virtual Machine required).
http://www.mini.com/it/it/ecom/index.jsp?process=vco

Unfortunately this is in Italian only. I guess you can find the same configurator on Mini UK.
