Haha, I posted a link on MINI2 and it got pulled. I can understand wanting to follow the embargo though. And I can understand breaking it, if you're not the first to do so.

Cheers Liam

I prefer my '05 and '06. I could learn to like the new shape, but the new center console is just too "Lego" for me.

I think there will be trade-offs with the new ones. Some things we'll like, others we won't like. Thats just the way it is when you redo this much about a car. I have a feeling the aftermarket will be able to do a lot with the new turbo, the "fake" hood scoop, the direct flow exhaust, etc. The seats look great to me, as well as the design of the dash and doors, though I agree about the A/C Radio area and the center console.

boooo!

I'm not digging the center stack, either. The dash I can live with, although I don't like the look and size of the new speedo, or the scalloped bezel around it and the tach. The center stack has lots of dead space and looks very cheezy. The center **** just looks tacked onto a flat, grey piece of textured plastic. :-( The other controls down there also look like My First MINI™. Too bad.

Exterior's not bad; rear bumper on the Cooper's funky.

I quite like the new interior, the speedo is really big though! Dont' like the new Cooper's exterior, especially the front!

Nice Seats

Has anyone seen a full shot of the seats? They look supportive and very similar to the M roadster seats.
The car looks great overall! I think the car will be another success story and the potential of this little turbo'd motor may lure me into an '08.

I'm liking what I see except for the center stack (which I could live with). It looks like a tasteful update.

My largest criticism of the interior is the slavish repetition of the MINI logo. The logo is fine on the steering hub, but it's overkill (IMO) to repeat the shape twice in the center stack. Of course, this is one of those things that might stand out in photos, but yet appear subtle in person. We'll all get to see soon!

I noticed on the official site that with the "Comfort Access" option you don't need to insert the "key" into the dash, you can just have it in the cabin with you. That's a big plus in my book....makes the feature actually worth something.

Any comments on the "cod" piece on the new seats. Might be problematic for a BIG guy like me. .

PS I put the wink in otherwise my wife would post that I am "Much Ado about Nothing". Nick

it's beginning to grown on me ... wanted to trade for an MCS, but the MC looks so much cooler and pure on the exterior ...

The interior with the Navigation Integrated looks really ace and pulls everything together nicely on the dash and center console. looks a bit i-driveish

Digging the colors and materials for the interior as well ...

But agree with everyone here ... the MINI wings are over used inside ... if they would ditch it in the A/C controls ... all would be perfect

2 types of stereo

I noticed there's two types of stereo.

The first one has dedicated buttons for pre-sets (1-6), AM FM and such: http://www.mini2.com/images/of_r56/dial_t.jpg

The second unit doesn't have dedicated buttons and the display is a bit larger. Where in the first one there's a "mode" button in the middle, the second mode has a small ****: http://www.mini2.com/images/predrive...e/PICT0112.jpg There's also a dedicated phone button.

I'm assuming the first one is the base unit while the second one is an optional upgrade.

I agree 100%, The nav is a must in my book. With the CD player in the stack, it "fills" it out a bit more=less space inbetween each component. It looks mucho better, not as cheap. I'm second on the wait list at South Bay Mini, I guess I'll be a R56 guinea pig!
