MCS 2007 r u going for it?

Just wondering how many of you (and the resons for doing so) are planning on trading your ride or acquiring a 2007 as well.
For me: I love my ride it is a 2005 MCS with a lot of nice bells and whistles so I am thinking of holding back until 2009 just so they fix all the bugs of the first iteration. I own my ride but if you have a lease I guess you'll me changing the ride ASAP.
Comments?

I also have a well stocked 05 MCS. I'd love to have a cabrio though. And the 07. Well I'd like one of those as well. If I decide to go with the new model, then I'll go with an 07. Why wait.... they have had Plant Oxford running for several years now.

In '09 you could get a 50th Anniversary edition!!

I bought an early '03 and have been very pleased. I know there are risks w/ any new model, but yes, if I wanted/needed a MINI I'd go for it and let MINI sort out any gremlins. My dealer is only a few miles away though, and awesome to work with.

I'm planning on trading my '02 cooper for an '07 Cooper S. I'm pretty excited about the changes, but honestly, it's a matter of timing for me. I've been wanting to trade up for a while, but have been saving my dough so that I can avoid a new car payment.

'09 seems like a good time to me to jump on the new MINI - as long as the price doesn't get too out of control. I think the new engine will prove to be terrific and get significantly better gas mileage. I love my '06 and my wife's '05 but I think a car the size of a MINI should get 35 MPG highway consistently (real MPG, not wildly optimistic trip computer MPGs). I know the MC gets that kind of mileage but I want my 170 ponies (greedy ). I too would be interested in a Traveller for our two MINI family mix.

Went ahead and bought an '06 recently. Wanted a proven supercharger over an unproven turbo.

I'm pretty thrilled over the tuning potential of a turbo - you just tell the ECU to give you more boost and there it is . . .

That said, until I start having expensive problems with my 05 MCSc, it's not very likely that I'll be trading anything.

I am seriously considering getting an 07...I was going to order an 06 this weekend, wait 4-5 months and hope that the 07s come out before then so I can compare. However, I spoke with an MA yesterday and he said that MINI is going to extend the 06 production year up to January and that I shouldn't expect to see the 07's until Feb or March-ish.

What are people most concerned with regarding the 07s, besides the aesthetics? The motor, rattling, electrical, tranny? just curious...

I will most likely lease a 06 if i can get one this year then see how the 07/08's are and then decide if i'd purchase my leased vehicle or buy the new one.

You all are planning on what car to buy in 2009?

For those that are, are you really serious? Do you really think you can plan that far ahead as to what you can afford, and more importantly, what will be available?

Seriously.... I ask because I can't think much more than next week, never mind 3 years from now

I currently have a lease on a 2004 Mazda RX8 and I'm dying to get rid of this gas guzzler!!! I have decided to get a MCS and went to the dealer near by to test drive one and get pricing and financing info. By the time my lease is over the (January 07) I think they will start taking orders on the 07 MCS, I like the idea of a Turbo Mini since I've had turbo cars before (2002 WRX) and you can do some nice trick to them to make them faster so that said most likely I will get and 07 but it all depends on the pricing also, if they go up too much then maybe I'll jump on the last few 06 MCS being produced....so its all about timing. I'll be calling my dealer around november december to see whats going on.....and also keep an eye on this forum.

um - holding out for the traveler.... auto with paddles for me collection.

Hey Scuderia... like your GTI? and the DSG? I am thinking of getting a United Gray GTI with DSG to switch things up and have both my 04 MCS for play and the GTI for business travel.

I'm still worried that the new Mini will be a disapointment, it'g going to look basically the same but will have a simpler, cheaper rear suspension & a turbo charged engine. I think the first generation Mini might prove to be the better car, an example of BMW over engineering a vehicle like the Range Rover they did before Ford took over. I hope they prove me wrong.

The rear suspension isn't being changed at this time according to the latest article on motoring file. The turbocharged engine is a plus in my opinion, more technology should yield better power and economy.

This is exactly why I ordered a 2006.

The way I see it, the new Mini is going to have to be nothing short of the perfect car to completely outclass what we currently have.

On the other hand, as good as the current car is, I think it very possible that the R56 will fall short in certain areas (styling, driving feel, technology overload, etc).

In other words, the chances of it completely outclassing the current generation are low, and the chances of it falling short are at least fair.

It's a situation, I think, that mirrors the recent transition of the 3-Series from the E46 to the E90.

This is why we bought our 2006 MC and MCS, a proven vehicle with a proven powerplant. I've purchased two brand vehicles in their first year of production and had trouble with the engines on both. Granted, the MINI is not a first year production vehicle, but the '07 engines will be. For the distance I have to travel to a dealer for warranty work, I won't consider a new MINI until at least '08. From what I've been told of the possible JCW power for the '07, I'm excited, but not ready to buy while the jury is still out.

For now, I'm going to enjoy my '06 MCS and my wife just loves her new GREAT MC. (Although I am a little disappointed that I leave these two MINIs alone every night in garage, but yet every morning there still are only two MINIs when I check. What is the gestation when they finally mate???!!!)

Mcs? Mct?

So if the supercharger gets replaced by the turbocharger in a few months, will the mid-end Mini be called a Mini Cooper T?

This is a common misperception. The S doesn't actually stand for supercharged or anything else, just "S". So MINI COOPER S will stay.

AWD would be on my shopping list for the R55 too. Hopefully MINI sees fit to make it available.
