(ANY HELP APPRECIATED) N18 Rocker Cover Ground Bolt Snapped
Hi all,
I am looking for help desperately as my own stupidity and lack of experience has resulted in a costly error.
While changing the rocker cover this morning I have snapped one of the bolts, it happens to be the ground bolt also.
I have it booked in on Thursday to have the bolt removed however I've started the car while the ground isn't connected properly resulting in some error codes: P16E7 and P0193
one is for excessive voltage at the fuel rail and the other is also voltage related.
Have I killed my Mini by starting it up? Where else can I put the ground wire so it starts again?
Any help massively appreciated
Thanks

Maybe not, be gentle...he needs positivity in this moment of crisis
I concur.
Attach the ground to something else and don't worry about what "MIGHT" be wrong.
I mean, for goodness sake, at any point in time someone could drive in to you while on the road.....all it takes is one idiot on their phone and your life is changed dramatically. Is that stopping you from getting in the car every day? https://www.facebook.com/reel/571000366006808
Why did she post a video of her self-induced accident?
It wasn't posted by her. It was dash cam footage from the vehicle, which was a rental car. She stated that someone had swerved and she attempted to avoid them.
I'd be surprised if you don't see this technology become widely present in all rental vehicles rapidly. Those companies are tailor made for a system which removes their liability and places it on the driver/renter.
Back again to update this thread because there was 0 information online about this when I was searching last week.
Yes I blew the ECU by starting the car without ground on the main harness. The code is aligned with this. ECU was sent off 9 days ago and is being returned to me tomorrow, cost me £330 from ECTesting in Derby UK to have it repaired.
Needless to say I'm about nervous about putting it back in. Is this a sufficient ground connection to get it to the garage? The ground wire is wedged onto the bolt, and the nut is as tight as it will go, with the other wire sandwiched against.
I'm sure that ground would be ok because the bolt passes through the unpainted hole but ya might as well go to the battery ground or the ground on the motor mount. Passenger side.
