R56 power steering replacement??
power steering replacement??
helping some friends with a 2009 Cooper s Turbo / I believe it's an n14/r56.
they had an overheat due to a water pump failure so we got it going again and after one short trip to the store the power steering went out.
We've triple checked all electrical connections and the fuse is fine. thinking that the overheat may have cooked the pump.
thing is we've looked EVERYWHERE online for someone who's talked about it and can't find a single video.
I have a 2004 base model and have done everything to that car myself. all we can find are videos and talk about that particular pump which is much different.
have tried searching this forum and still coming up empty handed. hoping that there's a huge cache of into and i'm just missing it. would love any direction, links or anything.
I've gotten a good look at it form underneath and I think i could get it out without removing rack and pinion etc... really need to know what other downstream problems we might run into to decide it this is something i even wanna attempt.
much thanks in advance!

right that much we've gathered. - I should have said steering motor, my bad. - still looking for any insight into what needs to be done to mate the Mini computer with a new motor / scanner type etc? can it be done in the hidden menu etc? / can these motors be refurbished? maybe replacing bad circuit components etc?
yup - the plugs all lock in. we didn't touch any of that while doing the coolant system repairs. Any place you know we could get a wiring diagram to i could send power directly to the motor switch to test? there's apparently a continuous high amperage line, like on a starter, and another smaller on opening the circuit to get it to run.

When doing the suspension work people knock the plugs off or damage the plug. Yep scan it with a indepth scan tool

I don't have a high end scanner but need to get a BMW specific one, I am told, that can reset the adaptations in a 2004 mini I'm stuck with. I figure what ever does that will prob be good for this too. any suggestions?
I have the schwben tool and carry them in the MINIs. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-schwaben...020sch01a~scf/
