Funk Motorsports Turbo Blanket ?

Hey Team,
By chance does anyone here have any experience with the Funk Motorsports Turbo Blanket? I know there are other options out there like Forge but I wanted to gain input on the Funk version. Reason being, after many years, the turbo blanket I had installed from Way Motor Works finally met it's end and started to disintegrate. I called WMW to possibly order a replacement but to my demise they don't offer it anymore. The website specifices you must order a minimum qty of 100 and when I called to inquire if they can sell one individual blanket, that's when I found out it's no longer made. It's a shame because I was a huge fan of it and it did it's job perfectly. What I enjoyed most about it is that it was designed perfectly to fit under the OEM heat shield to provide 2 layers of heat retention and protection from other components. I'm hoping that it's possible that the Funk design is similar but I wanted to see who else may have experience with it before I bite the bullet on $200. The Forge design is nice and the feedback but I'm not too keen on replacing the OEM heat shield with a blanket that may offer the same level of protection.

Any feedback or input would be greatly appreciated!

I saw in your other post that you havw installed it this year. I have a built engine and a hybrid turbo with the original housing. May I ask about your experience over these months? and I'm a bit worried that it may touch the exhaust manifold.

I did purchase but didn’t install the Funk Motorsports turbo blanket because of the fitment. It didn’t fit right like the Way Motor Works version I had before. I also found that it was almost impossible to secure the clips on the Funk blanket without it interfering with the waste gate linkage.

I ended up taking off OEM top half of the heatsheild altogether and going with the Forge blanket that replaces the top half of the shield. I can say it does make a difference to isolate the heat coming from the downpipe and protecting the components in the bay. I also have the AEM intake with the heat shield installed over the blanket for added protection. I would say it’s easier to touch the AEM Heatshield compared to before due to the amount of protection the forge blanket provides.

I have an aftermarket sports cat downpipe but i almost ended going with a high flow straight cat and if so I would’ve ceramic wrapped it using a wrap from PTP. They also offer a blanket similar to the Forge but I ended up going with the Forge due to the lifetime replacement program in case anything ever happens to it.

For a built motor, I’d try the wrap and a blanket on top.

Hope this helps.

If you are serious about heat coating, look into SwainTech White Lightning:

It helped a lot, you saved me from a huge headache. Than I go with Forge, AEM heatshield is a really good idea, I will build something like that. Luckily I made some major changes in my intake so its almost at ambient temp, 2-3 celsius higher if im on the move. My car is in limp mode at the momment because of the turbo but even with a hard pull max it be is +8-10 c° on ambient (I live in Netherlands, therefore it might not be as good) I will put some pics about it. And of course I have a big intercooler without that its impossible to get cold air. I really like how it turned out it costed me almost 0 money. If you have anything better than this please show it I'm interested. Or if you like my creation, I would be more than happy to explain from dot to dot how to do it.

Thank you again, I hope it will keep the turbo nice and warm.

Moved reservoir, windshield fluid tank has to be removed or modified.

Headlight washer is taken out, perfect airflow because the air goes next to the filter and not in it. Yesterday I was driveing in brutal dutch weather and not a single drop of water landed on the filter.
