Cylinder Identification

2011 MCS N18.

What is the proper way to identify the cylinder number layout for the 1.6 liter turbo engine?

From the timing cover on passenger side is it sequentially 1, 2, 3, 4 or something different?

Developed a misfire, code P0304. Swapped the coils on the two cylinders on the driver side, code then showed a P0303. Just trying to make sure I have this all straight before ripping and replacing parts. Thanks in advance.

@joedotmac ,

Obviously because there is no cap & rotors to speak of, the layout is simple starting with cylinder 1 on the passenger side and working its way towards the driver side as “ 1,2,3, and 4

Cylinder 1 is always at the "Front" of the engine. The "Front" is always where the accessory drive belt is located, and opposite the transmission.
