Leak not bad enough to produce enough fluid to show any color.

But your suspicion that seal may not be the source of the leak has merit.

For diagnosing leaks I've used brake cleaner (in an aerosol can) to spray down the areas showing any fluid leak sign and this includes any areas above/around the areas appearing directly affected. Then drive the car some and check very carefully for leak sign from some place above or ahead of where the leak is suspected of being located. And of course the area in pictured.

You may have to drive the car several times before you see where the leak originates because, as I touched upon above, the leak doesn't look to be that bad.

How many miles are on your transmission fluid? New fluid is red; old fluid .... I don't even see enough fluid to form a drop.

MIGHT be from the PCV connection under the intake manifold but its not directly under the shaft seal, but that would explain the color of the stain.

Anyone have experience with Corteco versus OEM brand? FCP Euro claims Corteco is OEM supplier but the colors are different.

ECS Tuning shows them as different colors
