R56 Parking brake actuator sticking
Parking brake actuator sticking
2009 R56 base 215K miles
My right rear parking brake actuator is sticking, As a result the cable is slack and it's partially engaging the rear brake.
The actuator is supposed to spring back keeping tension on the parking brake cable.
I've removed, cleaned and lubed the actuator lever a few times. Each time it works fine for a while and then sticks again.
Any suggestions? Thanks!

I returned to the actuator on the rear right caliper to free it up again.
It turns out that the actuator built into the caliper, so a new caliper would fix the problem.
I removed the lever and cable mount and squirted plenty of liquid wrench into the mechanism while working it back and forth. Fingers crossed.
If your parking brake seems to need adjustment, check the two actuators on the rear calipers.
