window regulator/motor compatibility

from what i'm seeing, there was a design change in the window regulators/motors in the 05/06 models. the problem i'm seeing, though, is that the 05/06 parts are incredibly hard to find and expensive when you do.

i was wondering - if i swapped both the window motor and regulator assembly for that of an 02-04 design, would it work? those are readily available and significantly cheaper.

Hello,

You are in the R56 section.

You are talking about R50/R52/R53.

For the from 06/2005+ we have low cost options now in regulators in stock.

You will need the adapter plate for 6/2005+ if you change it and dont have it. I have not seen anyone go to the older style. Most of the time the regular sticks on the sliders/ cables break or breaks.

If you pull the motor off and its turns really easy them its the regulators.

well, i haven't tested anything on the window motor yet. i just know when i bought it, they said the driver window doesn't work. i'm just trying to get a feel for what's ahead of me once i get it squared away mechanically...

and not sure how i ended up in the r56 section. what's kinda funny is i was still able to label it as an r53 discussion.
