R56 Replace charcoal canister and DTML pump
Replace charcoal canister and DTML pump
2007 Mini Cooper hatchback; 120,000 miles.
Trying to replace the charcoal canister and associated DTYML pump. About the third step is to remove the two nuts holding the canister to a bracket -- takes a 6mm hex head. Nothing doing. The nuts just spin and spin. I loaded the area around the nuts with PT Blaster a day before starting the project; nothing doiing. How to get the damn things off without destroying something?
And the hoses that go into the charcoal canister and pump -- how do I get them loose? Looks like a good squeeze with pliers but can't get them off.
Thanks.

Not sure about your nuts.
For the hoses, you have to squeeze the collar while pulling them off. Pelican parts has some good repair instructions that show how the collar should be squeezed. The problem is the o-ring inside seems to weld itself in place over time. Spray some penetrating oil and let it sit. Then rock the thing back and forth as you're squeezing and pulling.
