Mysterious Click

Sometimes when I walk by my car with the key fob in my pocket I hear a click which sounds like a relay. It is not causing any problems but I would like to know where the sound is coming from. Any ideas on what may be causing it?

Is the car locked?

Do you hear the noise if you walk by the car without the keyfob in your pocket?

If the car is equipped with keyless entry could be the car detects the key and the click is the car's electronics at least partially waking up.

The assumption is the door will be opened and the show begins...

I only hear it if the fob is in my pocket. I have two fobs and it seems to be happening with both. I do not hear it when the fob is not in my pocket. When it first started happening I thought it may be the door lock but the sound seems to be coming from another source.

Do you have the comfort access system? Perhaps the car is sensing the key fob and checking one of the control relays.

Yes the car has the comfort access system although I am not sure how it works.
