Why does my 2009 mini cooper s N14 run at 226/228 degrees? Is this Normal? Never see the fan come on. What are you people running at?

105°C is the factory target for control. That converts to 221°F. Add a little bit of tolerance in there, and you are probably close to normal, maybe a little bit high. When was the last time your coolant was refreshed? Has the thermostat ever been changed? I wouldn't change the thermostat if its still warming up OK and you don't have any cooling system error codes.

Just dropped the motor in 60000 miles new timing chain, new thermostat and housing, new oil filter housing.new water pump. We replaced all known issues with the n14s before we dropped it in. If I turn the ac on full it will go to 222 then open thermostat and drop to 185

Sport mode and/or A/C on will drop the temp, i am around the 221 mark. I have seen it go higher in the summer heat.

Did it in my 2007 also. Its not much but a couple degrees. A/C seems to be the biggest as it kicks on the fan.

Just floor the accelerator, that will drop the temp. ;-) DME monitors throttle pedal, and will command the MAP controlled thermostat open during WOT.

That’s how the controls were designed
