R56 P0015 and misfire
P0015 and misfire
09 1.6l non-s base model
New timing chain, valves in head, plugs and coil, and VVT solenoids. Swapped cam sensors and solenoids with no movement of code. P0015 is for retarded timing in exhaust (front of vehicle cam).
Removed injectors, ran carb cleaner through them and they all spray well and actuate well.
Car starts right up idles well for about a second then stutters and stalls. Have a p0050 for upstream O2 sensor and random misfire code.
If I give it gas and hold it at say 2k or 3k it'll run fine for a couple seconds then cut out a bit, if idle drops to low about 1k it'll run real rough and stall.
If it's not the VVT, cam sensors, plugs, injectors, or coils, what am I looking for? Read other posts says oil control ring for the cam? Advice on this? What about the actuator motor for the cams?

I had a similar problem...
2010 Base MC N12 - installed a remanufactured engine and new parts (ie: Vanos solenoids, etc.), but kept getting P0015
Solution came from Mike at ECS Tuning...
Get a BMW/Mini-specific scan tool so you can clear the adaptions so that the valvetronic gear can relearn the stops
Hope this helps others

- The scan tool that I bought is HERE
- The steps to clear the adaptions is described in the video posted in this THREAD
