Help!! It won't open!!

2007 R56 Hatchback.

In front of the passenger's seat is the glove box that opens by pr3essing on a silver oval switch embedded in the dash.

Above the glove box is another compartment -- the cover is smoky black plastic, it opens by pressing on the black plastic in the front center to reveal another storage compartment. At least that's the way it's supposed to work. Ours will not open - pushed gently, pushed firmly, poked it, pushed all over, nothing doing. Looked in the roof of the glove box to see if there's a secret opener, nothing.

Any ideas before I resort to the hammer?

How do you know this is the case for your actual car? There are some cars that came without a "secret compartment" from the factory.

If I am not mistaken, in the beginning only cars equipped with the factory cd changer had an opening cover. Later on the opening mechanism for the cover and a compartment box underneath was installed on those cars that came without a factory cd changer.

I think the op's issue is with the "secret compartment", not the regular glove box.

I had the same problem recently. Keep pressing on it. I have a couple pair of glasses in cases in there and one next to the door was squeezing the door outward so it wouldn't unlatch.

Ok, push down a couple times. Sometimes you have to press down hard and hold
