Can't open hood/bonnet

So I pull the hood open latch, and the hood doesn't pop up allowing me to reach under and release it. The left side seems like it's got a little play, but the right side is still closed tight. I don't want to force it, obviously. It seems like only the right side is latched right now. If I lift up on the hood carefully, the left side has some play. It doesn't seem like it's going to suddenly fly open, certainly not just driving around town. Is there a way to spray some WD-40 through the grill to get to the latch?? Any suggestions??

Thanks in advance...

Turns out that having someone (my son) hold the latch open while I lift the hood did the trick. Now I'll spray some WD-40 on those latches and that will hopefully solve that problem.

Congratulations on getting it open. I have had this problem on several other cars. WD-40 will not fix it, & you may not be able to get it open the next time it is stuck.

I recommend you analyze the problem, to determine if it is the cable, latch, or adjustment that is the issue. Maybe you can put a short rod into the jaws of the latch & observe what is going on.

For me, problem was corroded cable, but latch can also wear.

As you already know, a stuck hood is very frustrating.

Good luck
