Motorcraft XT-M5-QS MTF?

Since the Getrag 285 6 speed manual transmission is used on the Ford Focus SVT as well, and Ford Motorcraft MTF is famous for it's good quality, has anyone ran Motorcraft XT-M5-QS in their Minis?

Meh. That stuff is popular in the Miata world. I used it in my Miata gearbox, and didn't notice much improvement in shifting, but actually felt a little bit more notchy. In the Mini, my last fill was with Lucas synthetic 75w90 oil, and it had a huge impact on shifting smoothness. I've used different gear oils in many of the different cars I've owned over the years, and every car seemed to like something different. In the Mini, I like the Lucas oil.

Yea, my last car was an NA and that's where I got the idea too. Even more so after finding out my transmission is used on a Ford too.

Thanks for your suggestion.

Cheers!

If you decide to try out the Motorcraft fluid, please post your impressions. I’d be curious to hear.
