I yanked a N14 engine from a 2009 Cooper S yesterday to use as a core to rebuild and it had a very strange mod done to the rear PCV. They rerouted the hose to dump directly into the intake runners and capped off the large port down lower on the intake manifold. I haven't run into this before but it looks very tidy. Anyone see this before?
yeah...it is not that common to be honest. I had 3 dozen of these and the 07 was the first lol...Not sure if there is a benefit to the valves in terms of carbon buildup though.
It probably doesn't make a difference regarding the intake valve mess. It would be excellent if they had installed some small injectors here to do a quick squirt of fuel every so often to wash off the oil residue. Even water meth would be good! LOL It seems strange that they didn't do anything to improve the design.
