Fuel Rail Pressure on Torque Pro?

Hi,

I'm trying to diagnose why my car will not start. I noticed something I think is strange.

When I look at the fuel rail pressure using the app Torque Pro it shows about 110psi before I crank the engine (start the car without pressing the clutch). This is the pressure provided by the fuel tank pump. However it seems rather high.

Would somebody be kind enough to confirm if they also see this reading?

I wonder if my pressure sensor or wiring needs attention. I also disconnected the tank pump and drained the high pressure fuel rail. I still see 40psi which I think is strangely high.

Thanks to anyone who can confirm or deny the same result!!

You should see ~70psi with engine on from the in tank pump. Sounds like your pressure sensor is off by 40psi. Will it effect the car not starting? Possibly. Perhaps the computer is seeing a higher pressure, so it is clipping the injector signals, and the car is not getting enough fuel to start.

It tries to crank, but the pressure remains at 110psi, like the high pressure pump is broken.

However I did buy a used replacement pump and have the exact same situation.

So either I was unlucky enough that my less than 2 year old pump broke, then the used replacement was also broke, or something else is wrong.

I wonder if my tank pump is actually not providing enough pressure, but the sensor is over reading it as being okay. If over-reading by 40psi I'm actually seeing 60-70psi from the tank pump.

I might try replacing the fuel rail sensor, and see if the pressure readings change:

I replaced the sensor. It now reads 17psi at atmospheric pressure, which is correct assuming it is an 'absolute' pressure sensor. Tank pump now gives me around 90psi.
