Time to service brakes - upgrade too?
Time to service brakes - upgrade too?
Hi All. My 2012 MCS is showing signs (including Brake light with lift on) of rotor and brake pad wear. From the history of the car I understand these have not been changed ever (56k miles).
I don't want to break the bank but some upgrade would be nice, if possible. Aside from OEM pads and rotors, are there any plug and play upgrades that you'd recommend? My use is not track , rather highway for commute plus some spirited driving.
Appreciate any help.

Akebono pads are great, way less dust than oem. Flush the brake fluid with some fresh dot4 and you should be good to go. If you don't like the brake pads sensor warning strip the wire ends, twist together and tape out of the way of moving parts. Check pad wear at oil changes, tire rotations, etc...
go for the EBC reds as that is what I would put on your car if you came in our shop.

And rotors if you need them too

this will be low dust and have great bite. I use this setup on my personal car.

thanks.
As for sensors you only need one front for the left front and one rear for the right rear as the car only has 2 sensors total.
WAY:
Gotta say man, I've recommended you to others after good experiences myself
and can not argue with a recommendation for EBC RED - I've used 'em for years on multiple MINI
but MUST ask about 'your rotors' ......
you had a company turn out a SPECIAL BATCH of rotors of your own spec's ....... ??????
or you are selling what???????
This one has vexed me for years ......
