What year? Not a lot of posts of auto transmission problems on 2nd and 3rd gen. We have a 2012 with 70k miles, no problem.

Doesn’t seem particularly troublesome, but I’d make sure it gets regular fluid change. Note that a fluid change only gets a portion of the fluid out.

Pretty reliable just make sure to change the tranny oil every 80-90k. You need to do a proper fluid change where you need to drop the pan and change the filter inside and not just drain and refill. This way you get all the fluid out.

The Aisin 09G transmissions are reliable, they are used in a lot of other makes of cars. They do require regular fluid changes, don't believe MINI and their "sealed transmission" nonsense.
I change mine every 50,000 miles.

Second gen as in 2017+?

If you mean "second gen mini"...as in a R56, the trans is the very least of your worries if it has a N14 engine! Just assuming given the location of this thread.

I haven't had any problems with my purchased new 2010 "S" with the N14 engine.
