R56 Oil Service Indicator out of sync?

Oil Service Indicator out of sync?
Have a 2013 Mini Cooper S (R56) - purchased as new off the showroom floor in April 2014. I now suspetc there was funny business with the paperwork but the main concern the moment is the oil service indicator light.
The car has less than 12k on the clock and due to the low amount of miles we put on this car, the oil is changed every 6 months regardless of mileage. Last changed in Oct 2018.
Despite that, every time the car is started, the Service Indicator light is on. When scrolling thru each, all the service dates appear normal...except oil. That shows 7k and Sept 2019. Is it possible the last time it was reset, only the date changed but not mileage for next service? Any thoughts on how to get this back into sync? The dealership does not have a clue. When putting the key fob into the fob reader, it shows no overdue service due. Anyone have any ideas?
Thanks in advance.
Next oil service due and date.
Service indicator on.

Most of us dont relay on that indicator because Mini had a 10k oil service interval! It is good that you change the oil every 6 months regardless of mileage, but it is also good to check the level of the oil. That indicator also pops up if you have low oil pressure due to low oil or faulty sensor.
With that being said, check the level and, if possible, the pressure (you'd need live data reader/scanner)

I wouldn't say haunted, but everything has a life span. Also, the reminder is mileage and/or date dependent. So, if your mileages or date isnt triggering the lamp, I would get the sensor or pump checked. Also, sometimes the oil filter if not sitting right or missing, might cause that condition.

I think the dealer did not do the reset. Search you tube for how to do it and see if the problem comes back.
The other thing I'm thinking is whether you have a failing battery that is causing weird warnings. Very common on BMW's and that whole CBS dealio is pure BMW. Assuming the battery is original it could be on its way out. If it's not hooked to a battery tender, I'd give it a charge along with resetting the OCI.
