Question about value

Hi Everyone,
I am considering selling my 2008 MCS. What I am trying to find out is what would be a reasonable asking price.
The last of the VIN is "TV38916"
It is Chili Red with the aero kit and HK sound system. Over all it is an VERY good condition. even though I live in northeast Ohio it has not been driven in the winter, so there is no rust on it at all.
It has just over 106,000 miles and runs excellent, even the sunroof works.
It also has new brakes pads and rotors all the way around and new front struts.
I have checked KBB and auto trader type sites but they seem very low and do not have the body kit or too many other things as an option.
If you guys could help me it estimate a fair price for this awesome Mini I would be thankful.

You can see my sons 2007 MCS in the back ground, this is our latest project.

Thanks,

Unfortunately the N14 cars aren't worth much. Determining points of interest would be auto vs manual, and service history as related to carbon cleaning, timing chain replacement, hpfp replacement, and other things along those lines. One of the most valuable aspects of that car is the aero kit as some of the Aero 1 pieces are no longer being manufactured. You may want to consider swapping that to the project car if the project is something you plan to keep. Aside from that, the prices you're seeing on the estimators are unfortunately fairly correct. I'd guess somewhere between $3000 and $6000. Your best bet is to sell to another enthusiast, someone who knows these cars well. Most people that do the bare minimum research will stay away from all N14 cars, especially ones that are not factory JCW. For some reason they think they're exempt from issues with an N18. Best of luck

Thank you for the input.

It is an automatic, the HPFP has been replaced along with the valve cover and it has recently had walnut blasting done.
If I do sell I will try to find an enthusiast.
I just see them on the automotive websites for around 4K to 6K with the same mileage but could not find one with the body kit to compare.

Thank you

My thoughts when selling a car is make it stand way out from the others. People in the market for an 08 with ~100K+ miles are looking for transportation and don’t have the money or want to spend the money to fix it right after buying it (unless they are looking for a project). If they are researching Mini’s, they will see post on the timing chain. When is the last time the timing chain was replaced? Are you comfortable doing it yourself? How does the oil pan gasket look? Are there any oil leaks that you can fix yourself easily?
Clean the hell out of it. It looks pretty clean in the pics, but a good polish goes even further. If the brakes/rotors look a little discolored, paint them gloss black. You’d be amazed what a difference it makes. Are the floor mats worn out? Replace them. How do the hood/hatch emblems look? If worn out or faded, replace them. Remove all non-factory stickers/decals/emblems.
For a little bit of money & time, you can make your 10 year old Mini look and operate pretty close to brand new and you can command a little higher price.
I would also advertise it nationally if possible. I’ve travelled to another state to buy a used car before and you’re looking for that buyer that is looking for your exact car.
Just remember, “There’s an *** for every seat”. Ha

Good Luck

The N14 thats has all the current issues updated and replaced is a good n14, that looks pretty clean and taken care of. I sold my to a local club guy and its been great for him. The body kit and extras will maybe get you $500-800. Auto trans might pull it back down for an enthusiast as most want a stick.

Good luck on the sale.

FWIW I just bought a clean 2009 fJCW with 70k miles for $7300 and that included another set of wheels/tires and a roof rack and a few other minor bits. I'd say yours is worth somewhere around $5k.
