Wheel value question

I am contemplating buying a set of new 18" R113 wheels (black) for my new 14 JCW Coupe. My car came with the factory 17" black challenge wheels. The car has 250 miles on it. Does anyone wan to venture a guess what these would sell for? They are unmarked and as new. Would come as a compete wheel, tire (Dunlop RFs), TPMS set minus the center caps. Would appreciate input. Thanks. JF

I've seen brand new sets of challenge wheels go from anywhere between $1000 to $1800. What you get would depend on where you're located, if you're willing to ship, and if there is a current demand for them. You won't get anywhere near MSRP for them, just know that.

The fact that you are including the TPMS would be a bonus as long as they work on the MINI they would go on. Runflat tires aren't hugely popular. Most people on this forum ditch the RFT's pretty quick.

Best word of advice is to put them up for sale with a starting price that you think is fair, possibly take offers on them, and see if anyone will bite.

Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I would be willing to ship and not look to ask ridiculous numbers for these. I think +/- 1k plus shipping seems reasonable for a new set of bolt on, desirable OE wheels/tires/TPMS. I did buy the 18s so my 17s are officially for sale...

Thanks.

I think that's a fair price

If you did get the R113's, good choice. Hard to tell from my sig pic, but i have them as well (In Bright Turned). Here's a clearer pic:

Watch for potholes. I already bent and cracked one of my wheels on a decent sized pothole while running the RFT's. I opted to ditch the runflats and bought Continental DWS in a 215/40/18 for a bit more meat on the wheel. I've been very happy with them since. Post some pics of your car with the new wheels!

Thanks

Yes, the price is fair I think. Will post them set in the Marketplace once I get the new wheels on next week. No big deal if I don't sell either. A back up set for winter I suppose is not a bad thing.

I bought the all black R113s. I like yours as well and considered them and the ones with the red stripe on the perimeter. I have a WS/Blk JCW Coupe so the red ones were not going to work (for me at least). I decided to do all black.

I like the R113s on your car. Nice set up.

Quick question

Do I really need to install the steering rack stops to make these wheels work I have been told no and yes. Any advice would be appreciated. I obviously would like to spare the time and expense if necessary...

Thanks for the compliment!

I bought my car with the wheels already installed so i don't know if i have them or not. It seems all the Steering wheel stops do is it prevents the larger diameter of the wheel/tire from rubbing parts of either suspension or fender when turning full lock. If you're not going full lock all the time, you should be fine without it. Easiest thing to do is just put the wheels on, turn the wheel in one direction, see if it anything rubs, then try the other direction. Even if it does rub, as long as you remember not to go full lock in either direction, you should be fine. I don't think i've ever turned my wheel to full lock in the 2 years i've been driving my car.
