R56 US Version, usb display but no port, aux port but not display.

Hi all, just got a used 2010 cooper non s. Stereo screen shows me the USB option but the car does not have a USB port. O nthe other hand, it does come with an AUX port, but this option is not appearing on the display. Any suggestions? should i try to restart the sytem by taking out the fuse? Thanks.

Disconnect the battery for about 10 mins and reconnect. I don’t think it’ll change anything, but worth a try. That’s weird.

Yes, really. I know Stereo was fixed before i purchased the car, not know if it is possible, but is like the stereo had another "software". Ill try with the battery and fuses. Thanks.

is the usb in the 2010 the old apple connector in the glovebox? where they actually expect you to stick your phone there?
it really does sound like the stereo wasnt fixed, it was swapped and recoded to your VIN. my old Saturn Astra (made by Opel) was like that. the stereo was coded to the car and you had to have a replacement recoded. its like they replaced the stereo with a different model.

Hi, No, theres no USB on the glovebox. Ive seen some pictures of similar models where the USB was below the AC controls next to the AUX port. In my case, just the AUX port.

Our 2010 has both the USB and the AUX ports but only the USB shows up when you select mode. Unfortunately it shows up as an option but you can't select it so currently no way to pipe audio files through the stock audio system. Pretty sad state of affairs.

if you have a bmw/mini dealer near you maybe swing in and see if the parts counter or service dept. knows anything about it. sounds like what ever "fix" they did prior to your ownership may have screwed it up?
