The ever so troublesome n14

08 cooper s n14 engine. Let me start by saying what a helpful forum this has been for the passed 4 years owning this car. I now have 83k on my 08, and boy have i been through the works. The amount of maintenance this car requires is rather strenuous. Heres a list of what i can think of
-radiator hoses
-coolant and oil lines to turbo(also some pricey “oil pipe”)
-oil filter housing
-termostat/housing x 2
-valve cover gasket
-waterpump
-cold treated timing chain and kit
-clutch and clutch fork (staged)
-regular maint. Oil changes, brakes, sparkplugs etc
-non runflat tires
-alta hotside intercooler pipe
-cold air intake (dde)
-non branded front mount intercooler

Now im having issues with valve chatter and blue smoke after long idling. Both of these issue are worse when outdoor temperatures are increased. Has anyone forged these internals and/or beef up the valves? Is it worth it ? Where do i even start? Looking to eventually have the 42 mm turbo upgrade maybe JCW injectors and a better downpipe. Need to get this valve guide seals and valve chatter under control first. Thanks for any help and advice

Get a used F56, like 2014. Better engine, power everything. Even the 3 cylinder has a turbo. I realize it's New York and cars tend to get beat up there so you don't want a real new one, but a used F56 will probably be way better than the 2008. I drove a 2007 MCS for 7 years and didn't have any mechanical trouble with it. Front brakes and tires and a HPFP (under warranty). That was it. 70k miles.

Can't comment about your problems, but do love the spare tire. Hadn't seen that done before..

plenty of folks with forged inards, big valve heads.. larger turbo.. meth.. Mario Palza & RPM will get you sorted with all the bits.

*Since your head needs work.. why not jump for a new one..get higher redline and some more power at the same time?!

~3k$ for a proper head, sorted out with all the bits.. oversized valves, beehive springs, Ti retainers, radius galleries, ported, knife edged.. etcetc. RPM Tuning carries a big valve head too.. so there is at least 3 choices now
