Annoying beeping!!!

I have an 08 R56 S. When I start and turn off ignition, the car beeps. Started as just 3 short beeps. But now they're 5 long, loud, beeps. I thought it was a service reminder, but I thought I reset all of those. The display does say "SERVICE" when I start the ignition. Any help please. This is driving me insane.

if it says service ... you need something serviced

some things won't go away just because you 'clear' the indicator

when you clear oil service you reset a counter so the warning goes away until the next interval

but let's say the warning is due to a brake pad sensor having been tripped. If you clear the warning but have not replaced the sensor the indicator will come right back (brake wear sensors are 'consumed' when tripped) .... ditto if the warning is for low brake fluid ... until you fill the fluid to the minimum level the warning will keep coming back ....

So I probably need to take it in. It doesn't tell me what needs service.

The only sounds my MINI makes is a three tone chime whenever a warning light comes on. I haven't ever heard beeps.

Have you gone thru all the service items in the service menu? IME when the SERVICE indicator comes up, one of these is 'telling' - there's at least 6 items that can be checked/reset via the on board computer and the turn signal stalk' button.

you should find everything described in the "Everything under control" section of the 'controls' chapter of the owner's manual.

If you are complete 'hands off' person wrt maintenance and service items for your car, yes this probably means you need to 'take it in' but that doesn't mean a dealer .... any service shop that will look at MINI should be able to handle anything that's wrong.

The Capt'n is dead on. I got the service icon, looked it up in the manual. Sure enough, you can scroll thru the menu and see what service is due. In my case, it was telling me the brake fluid needed to be changed. That service is time based (every two years I think). It also gives you the option to clear the warning.

I did go through those but I'll do it again. I'll also check the manual. Hopefully I missed something and I can fix it. I don't like to take any car to a mechanic.
