R56 Emission test question

According to this site, they will check your OBD2 for emission related faults and
readiness.
https://www.dmv.org/ma-massachusetts/smog-check.php
http://massvehiclecheck.state.ma.us/...sions.html#obd
I'm pretty sure they will pick up codes that they won't like.
You might need to put a working cat and O2 sensors back in and drive for a proper
cycle for the monitors to indicate emissions testing readiness and no emissions
related codes.

Front downpipe with cat - 48 state legal
https://www.ecstuning.com/b-magnaflo...ter/49350~mag/
Back pipe with 2nd cat
https://www.ecstuning.com/b-afe-part.../47-46302~afe/
OEM parts are over twice these prices
I'm assuming the R56 is a Cooper S.
CNT also makes a catted downpipe for $350 but it isn't street-legal and they warn it may throw CEL codes.

Did you get the SPS switch. According to my Manic dealer, he said switch it to stock 1 mile from the emissions place and it should pass.
Yeah, it has to be the OEM 800 cell Catted DP or else the idiot light pops on

if you fail the inspection - gonna be tough to pass..likely have to grease the wheels at the inspection station (if you know what i mean)
if you fail the sniffer test - put 1-2ga of E85 into a full tank of premium gas and you will pass with flying colors (put many a boosted engines through SMOG, with a bit of ethanol in the system)

It looks like in Massachusetts you're allowed to have one monitor "not ready" and still pass inspection. As long as the O2 sensor is your only not ready monitor and you don't have a CEL you should pass. Same in NY where I live.
The O2 doesn't even really read "not ready" with the Manic tune. It's put in a permanent incomplete state as if you just cleared the codes and haven't done a full drive cycle yet.
I think it's worth a shot just going and getting an inspection as is. No reason to do work if you don't need to.

I want to know of a solution that will pass before I pull the trigger on getting a catless DP. Crossing my fingers its just a flip of a switch and you go thru passing with no problems.

For those of you who haven’t seen the SPS switch, I’ve added a couple of attachments to help

take a successful drive cycle without codes thrown to get them ready again.

Great going with this MJ with the chart! I haven't ordered mine yet, still getting all my parts and was VERY hesitant on getting a catless DP, but im still gathering facts on how to DEFINITELY PASS emissions without having to swap my DP back to OEM.

Anyone have an answer on this? Just failed twice only Stage 1 map B. Can I just put it back to stock 1 mile before entering the emissions place and it will work? Or do I have to clear everything with my scanguage, switch to stock and drive for 50 miles? This is a giant PITA for a completely stock exhaust vehicle.
my catless Evo passed with flying colors years ago... what gives!!

Even with the software hiding my CEL my mechanic said his scantool could still see a fault which would make me fail.
I forget the code number but it definitely was in relation to having NO CAT. This resulted from my Akrapovic Downpipe!
He would clear it, and id drive for about 10 minutes, then comeback and hook up the scantool. No CEL showing on my car dash, but the code for the CAT showed up again!
I even have a custom 3in full exhaust with no cat but I'm told emissions doesn't read the 2nd cat only the 1st. So without changing my software back, I put the stock downpipe back on, cleared all the codes via scan tool, then drove 30 minutes then went to emissions and PASSED! I'm not sure whats up with the Manic software, but I have RPM Stage 3 software installed and emissions didn't notice a thing.
