Trunk button/micro switch

My button is corroded and is causing the trunk to pop open while driving. I don't want to have to pay 100$+ for a new one and I don't care to fix the button. I will just just use the key fob. There are 3 wires that attach from the harness. The 1st and 3rd are for the button. My question is, can I just snip the 1st and 3rd (outer wires) and leave the middle intact so it can deliver power to my tag lights? 08 r56 justa

Mine started doing that a year ago, usually after driving a few blocks and often at a stoplight. Also noticed that manual unlatching rarely functioned.

Turned out that the rubber sheet under chrome bar was rotten, car always had indoor storage...

Removed the rotted rubber, saving the plastic pieces that trigger the microswitch and reconstructed fhe cover using materials on hand (external 'double-stick', weatherproof tape and liquid electrical tape).

No more spontaneous openings and finger press unlatch works again.

Snipping just one wire to the switch would disable it.

You can check and clean it, it might be so light corrosion, or the wire itself.

Here is the diy to get to the plug.
