Sun Roof Help

Hey There...
My Sun Roof will not open now.
I have a 2007 Mini Cooper Base R56
It makes a horrible grinding noise.
Any Ideas?

Just my WAG factor deployed but that sounds like gears grinding or slipping. Just reading without the audio available I was ready to suggest a good dry lube for the rubber guides but you've got more going on there.
Have you tried 'helping' it at the same time you push the button?

Some help here:

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...k-on-07-s.html

Its jammed and the motor is jumping the cable teeth. You might have to nudge it and hose it down with grease.

Yeah, I tried Nudging it and kept doing this. Man thats a pricy motor but I kinda get why it is. Do they make gear kits by any chance?
Thanks so much,

No kit just the motor and then the cassettes cables / main frame as one.

Up and Down

Ok, so what and up and down motion when you first start the car?

So when I first start the car at any part of the day...I try to open the sunroof and all it does is "tilt up and comes back down"...and it will continue to do that ...so what I do is: I drive for about 10 mins and try again and it works perfectly.

If I turn of the car and start again it works, I guess is when the system is de-energized for a long period.
