Enabling DRLs on R56

In my country it is mandatory to drive with low beams on 24 hs.
I could see searching on internet that the DRLs function could be used (if I did understand correctly) with the lights switch in off (0) position since low beams will go on when starting the car, and no other lights will be on (no dashboard lights, parking lights, license plate, rear lights, etc).

It could be great for me since to comply with the law, today I must stay with the light switch in on (2) position and all the lights are on instead of only the low beams.
Since I have all LED bulbs, I'm replacing parking lights, license plate lights, and rear lights every 3 or 6 months max.

I have checked my options menu at the tach, but there is not DRL options.

Any help on this?

My '12 MCS has that option. Did you check the manual?

Yes, it should be under settings (where you can set welcome lights time, locking the car, etc) but there is not DRL option

Yes, the option must be configured for every key if more than one, but the DRL option (on, off, etc) is not on the car setting.

It seems TAG_LICHT_AN and TAG_LICHT_AUS must be set to aktiv at KOMBI module.

Then changing VERHALTEN_DRL_TFL at FRM module from drl_tfl_off to:

drl_something

drl_s: seems to be to set Parking Lights as DRL
drl_l: ??? (L means Low beams?)
drl_h: ??? (H means High Beams?)

What I'm looking for is set Low Beams as DRL
After that I know what must be coded to turn off license plate, rear upper and lower lights, parking lights, dashboard lights, etc.

I have an 08 Hatchback and with a Bluetooth ODBII device and the Carista app on an android phone am able to toggle the DRL abilities. I am guessing you should be able to do something similar.

After some reverse research (all people trying to disable DRLs!) here in the forum and on internet it seems that the value

drl_l

will do the trick (low beams as DRLs).

I will try this.

All job done but I can't get the Parking Lights off (lights above front fog lights) when DRL is on

TAG_LICHT_AN and TAG_LICHT_AUS were set to "aktiv" and now I can see the on/off option on the tach menu. Was set to "on"

VERHALTEN_DRL_TFL was set to from "drl_tfl_off" to "drl_l" and now low beams are on when ignition is on.

All "DRL_TFL_" options were set to "nicht_aktiv" and now, license plate, all 4 tail lights and dashboard lights are off, if lights switch is in off position:

DRL_TFL_MIT_SL_2
DRL_TFL_MIT_KZL
DRL_TFL_MIT_SML_3R
DRL_TFL_MIT_BLK_V_GED
DRL_TFL_MIT_NSW
DRL_TFL_MIT_BL
DRL_TFL_MIT_SL_1
DRL_TFL_MIT_BFD

There is not any other option starting with "DRL_TFL_".

What is missing to turn off parking lights while running DRLs???

You can try to change pwm value to 0 on the corresponding TFL function.
Search for something like "pwm_sl_1_fkt_bl_tfl" or so, and select the option with 0V or 0%.

Maybe the value is in the form "wert_n"?
Which is the "off" (0v or 0%) value?

Dear,

I could find the option PWM_SL_1_FKT_BL_TFL and it had the value wert_01
It was changed to wert_02, wert_03 and wert_04 (it seems the option only accepts this 4 values) and the Parking Lights were always on.
Additionally, I was trying the same change with the options:

PWM_SL_1_FKT_PARKL
PWM_SL_1_FKT_SL_TFL

with the same result (all the time low beams and parking lights on).

I tried another way by changing the option VERHALTEN_DRL_TFL from drl_l (low beams) to drl_s (selective).
I could enable every light (parking lights, rear upper lights, rear lower lights, license plate lights) but I could not enable low beams : /

May be there is not possible to use low beams as DRLs without parking lights turned on?

Bump.

US Car. I'm trying to code JUST the upper fogs (parking lights) as DRL. I've swapped the bulbs out for LEDs running off a relay and i get a disco party when I turn the car on, but they don't stay on. Tried both drl_s with SL_1 and SL_2.
