I have a 2010 R56 S 6-speed automatic and want to know if there is a way to check my transmission fluid easily or is it sealed? I know some vehicles you have direct access to a dipstick. Thanks!

No dipstick is on the MINI. It is supposed to be a sealed unit, but you should at least drain the fluid and refill every 25-50k miles. There are several threads here on how to do this, it is not hard, but not simple either.

According to Mini / BMW, the oil in the trans is 'lifetime'. That said, I will be changing mine out (06 R53 - 3 pedal version).

Yea that's a bummer. Yes MiniTigger, I'd never take a manufacturer's word on a "lifetime" product especially oils and fluids. I'm not sure when it was last done on my Mini but I figure its at 73k now and will need an oil change at 77k so I might as well get the tranny flushed. I was lucky enough to get a warranty on certain aspects of the car from the dealer we bought it from but I'm the type of person that would rather be safe than sorry even with a warranty in mind. Thanks!
